Summary: We are actively seeking a contract Project Engineer to help support our server, network and voice deployments and optimization projects during the summer months.

The Project Engineer should have exceptional technical expertise and customer service skills, take initiative and should be capable of working in a demanding, fast-paced environment. As a member of our team, the Project Engineer is expected to be able to install, deploy and upgrade network and server equipment; design and implement network optimization projects; support business teams on joint-initiatives as a technical advisor or resource.

Title: Network Project Engineer

Hours and Location: We provide support from 7:30am-10pm. The Project Engineer will work Mondays – Fridays from 9am – 6pm. Some night and/or weekend work may be occasionally required for this role. The project engineer will frequently travel throughout NYC boroughs to perform work at client sites. Regional travel outside the tri-state area may be needed on occasion.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, installation, maintenance and monitoring of network systems including switches, routers, firewalls, Wi-Fi, phone/PA systems, intrusion detection systems and A/V systems.
  • Be responsible for expert-level troubleshooting of any problems relating to networking issues
  • Be organized. Develop infrastructure project plans, technical specifications, design documents, roll-out and test plans and implement them with precision.
  • Be thorough. Accurately document systems you deploy using CTS documentation best practices.

Required technical skills:

  • Strong experience in WAN/LAN/WLAN networking including routing, switching, security, load balancing. Experience with SonicWALL required. Cisco ASA experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of and experience with Microsoft Windows Server systems design, development, maintenance techniques and processes. Experience with HPE and Dell server systems preferred.
  • Strong experience with networking protocols and technologies including: TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, IPSEC, SIP, and QoS, LACP.
  • Experience in Network Appliance NAS/SAN environment (FCP, CIFS, ISCSI), Synology preferred.
  • Experience with Datacenter and Virtualization (ie: VMware, Hyper-V)
  • Strong knowledge of Cisco network equipment required. Ubiquiti and Meraki experience a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of GrandStream or other Asterisk based PBX systems required.
  • Advanced Printing administration (ie: Printix, print servers, etc).
  • Experience with RMM and MDM systems including Kaseya VSA, ConnectWise Control, Mosyle and Jamf Pro a strong plus.
  • Strong knowledge of MS Windows, Apple MacOS, Apple iOS, and ChromeOS required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years IT experience with on-going skills development
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills. Ability to rapidly identify and resolve issues under pressure.
  • Self-motivated, results-driven, and well organized
  • Can handle multiple tasks with clear sense of ownership and priority
