Object Oriented Python Developer for Analytics

Client Location:  Atlanta, GA

3 Month CTH:  $60/hr - $65/hr


Job Description:

Our client is a trusted technology and business consulting partner that's a leader in their space. They have an excellent culture and proven model resulting in explosive growth this year. They are seeking a sharp Engineer with great communication skills to join a project supporting their client.  This person must be able to work to the highest professional standards.


Required and nice to have skills:

  • Heavy python development, not a scripter but need structured python programming and other python data stack tech (know how to apply and filter),
  • Unit and integration testing is important
  • Seeking any software development with Linux
  • Spark would be nice, if not Hadoop is helpful
  • Docker or kubernetes would be nice, able to deploy code
  • Mostly greenfield development
  • Need someone who can take a component and run with it for a couple of weeks, trusted to do the job
  • Big Plus: any experience with simulators, simulation software would be good
  • Not so much data science and research, as those folks probably aren’t the best programmers, and this is a heavy programming role. Would be nice if they have basic statistics knowledge, probability, etc. (about 20% of the job insights)
  • External libraries like Django ok but mostly straight python


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

We are seeking an experienced software engineer to join our analytics team. The team is responsible for architecting, designing, and developing modern analytics solutions to support our airline customer's operations. In this role the candidate will work with data from diverse structured and unstructured data sources, and various formats. The candidate will work on all aspects of the design, development, validation, scaling and delivery of analytical solutions.



In this position, you will have responsibilities for all areas of the analytics development lifecycle:

  • Evaluate the nature of the problem and utilize the appropriate statistical solutions
  • Analyze data and identify features that will serve as inputs analytical models
  • Analyzes new data sets and provide insights into the data
  • Develop solutions in Python to prepare data from multiple data sources and programmatically execute predictive and optimization algorithms
  • Assist in designing and developing procedures to test, validate, and monitor models deployed to a production environment


The successful candidate will have the following:

  • Python programming language – minimum 5 years
  • 70%-80% general Object Oriented Python experience
  • 20%-30% skill with Python data tools, i.e., pandas, Numpy
  • No specific libraries used as most of the development work is ground up
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience working with Python for analytics
  • Experience with a data engineering pipeline and tools such as Spark, Hadoop, or Tensorflow
  • Familiarity with different types of data stores and their uses
  • Agile software development processes
  • Basic Linux experience; using Ubuntu for development environment
  • A passion for analytical problem solving and the ability to explain solutions to non-technical users


The following experience will be helpful, though it is not mandatory:

  • Event-based systems is the focus of the programming, therefore some background in event processing or event simulation is highly desired
  • RESTful interfaces


Education:  Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field.
