Job Description


The QC/QA Manager is responsible for overseeing incoming inspection and ensuring all products meet company specifications, maintaining traceable QC records, performing detailed root cause analysis of non-conforming product, and supervising department staff.


  • Manage and monitor performance of quality control inspector(s).
  • Responsible for mentoring department staff, assisting in recruitment, supporting development, and delivery of results that meet or exceed planned expectations.
  • Manage and further develop ISO systems and product and process compliance systems.
  • Support President with operational improvement strategy.
  • Overall responsibility for ensuring departmental performance in alignment with Safety, ISO quality, and environmental standards.  Drive a safety conscious culture that ensures 0 injuries and LTA’s and compliance with all statutory and corporate standards.
  • Monitor and improve departmental performance through regular reporting of non-conforming product, cost of quality, and inspection cycle times and utilize performance indicators to identify and implement process and product improvements.
  • Collaborate on cross-functional teams with engineering, supply chain, customer and technical support and finance on business management and process improvements.

Quality Control Responsibilities

  • Oversee process of inspection of received parts or products and sub-assemblies to certify quality and adherence to specifications.
  • Records results of all inspection and functional testing.
  • Manage calibration and maintenance activities on production and inspection equipment.
  • Raise non-conformances and liaise with engineering and supply chain to address internal or vendor corrective actions, and ensure effectiveness and closure of non-conformances as appropriate.
  • Develop or enhance business processes, departmental goals and standards to measure performance and identify continual improvement opportunities to drive a high level of customer satisfaction
  • Ensure conformance of prototypes and/or new parts to engineering specifications.

Quality Assurance

  • Monitoring performance and effectiveness of quality system and standards.
  • Maintain the Quality management system for ISO certification, while developing and improving.
  • Perform and/or facilitate customer, internal and supplier audits as required.
  • Analyze audit findings, and implement appropriate actions.
  • Prepare and document ISO Management reviews.
  • Complete and record customer supplier quality questionnaires.
  • Generate non-conformances and associated corrective actions, reviewing actions to ensure closeout, and monitoring trends to develop.

Environment, Health and Safety

  • Coordinate with team on maintenance and development of ISO14001 and Safety Systems/Policies
  • Periodically audit Safety Systems/Policies for compliance, generate corrective actions and monitor to ensure implementation.
  • Ensure ISO14001 process and procedures are in compliance with international ISO standards.

Financial Management

  • Identify, evaluate, plan and implement operational process and cost saving improvements within functional areas of responsibility.
  • Work with the senior management team in the generation of the annual plan budget, including supporting analysis and aligning departmental initiatives and budgets to overall company strategy
  • Achieve cost of quality performance objectives and operational costs within plan and latest estimates.

Basic Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree in STEM discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 7 years of related experience in a quality control, quality assurance and compliance.  Background in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline a plus.
  • Minimum 3 years of direct employee management including strong interpersonal skills and managing/working within cross functional teams
  • Proven ability to manage interdepartmental relationships and manage through challenging situations.
  • In-depth knowledge and proficiency with Enterprise Resource Planning software (quality control, QMS, materials management).
  • Proven track record of customer focus and support of internal and external customer requirements.
  • Strong ability to identify, communicate and manage operational changes in process, environment and resources.
  • Knowledge of overall business processes and identify and implement opportunities for improvement.
  • Proven ability to resolve issues independently and take appropriate action in a timely manner.
  • Proficient in Windows applications and Microsoft Office programs such as MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Teams.
  • Quick learner and ability to achieve proficiency in new software applications as needed.
  • Fluent written and verbal communication in English is required
