QA Automation Engineer

How You Will Contribute

  • Work closely with team members to clarify requirements and provide feedback on design (functional and technical) ensuring testability and automatability
  • Ability to assess both configuration and code change impacts on systems and existing automation
  • Evaluate, estimate and fulfill automation requests
  • Conduct Test Design, Test planning Test automation development, and Test execution in parallel with development
  • Conduct Manual Testing, and use strong Exploratory Testing to uncover weaknesses in test approaches
  • Write automated test cases for high availability and highly scalable applications which will be used by both internal and external customers
  • Identifies opportunities for reuse so as to design and implement test automation libraries
  • Responsible for ensuring quality of their work as well as the work of all channel teams
  • Log defects and make recommendations to address defects
  • Development responsibilities include doing code review / bug analysis, analyzing development and test impacts, writing test tools and identifying automation opportunities
  • Contribute to improvement in unit test coverage, design test frameworks, develop test suites, expand automated testing harness and automate scenarios/cases 
  • Manage and guides offshore resources as needed
  • Assist in Release Coordination, each team member is responsible for developing the capability to independently handle scheduling, deployment, regression, handoff and ticketing activities associated with production release processes
  • Maintain knowledge of best practices, industry tools and trends pertaining to our work and domain

What You Will Bring

  • Passion to build great application products and ability to support large scale distributed systems
  • Engineering Degree in Computer Science/Engineering, Management Information Systems, or equivalent professional experience
  • 2 to 6+ years of experience in various phases of testing, designing, and developing complex enterprise applications, including automated test development in an Agile environment
  • Strong experience in the following technologies preferred – Java, SQL, Linux, Docker
  • Knowledge of and experience with SOAP, Selenium, Python, Groovy, JS Frameworks, Jenkins, Maven a plus
  • Practical expertise in analyzing, designing and developing solutions to highly complex problems
  • Understanding of Continuous Integration and Deployment pipelines
  • Strong knowledge of technology and product trends, especially what is happening in open source
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and demonstrated ability to solve complex problems and develop quick and creative solutions
  • San Luis Obispo-based position
