The Special Programs Division (SPD) supports our US Space Force customer, Space and Missile Systems Center Special Programs Directorate, in the development, delivery, operations, and sustainment of unrivaled space control capabilities to guarantee space superiority for our nation. Examples include the Geosynchronous Space Situational Awareness Program (GSSAP), the Space Based Space Surveillance Program (SBSS), and the Counter Communications System (CCS). The selected applicant will be a member of the Aerospace team supporting several key programs in the Warfighting and Counterspace Department. The work location is embedded within the government program office, so there is frequent interaction with the government and support contractors. This Aerospace role also includes interacting with contractors that are building, integrating and testing these systems.

Key Functions
  • Provide radio frequency (RF) expertise to Warfighting and Counterspace systems to include requirements development, root cause analysis, and systems assessments and analyses
  • Provide signal processing expertise to Warfighting and Counterspace systems to include requirements development, root cause analysis, and systems assessments and analyses
  • Work as a member of an Aerospace integrated team to provide value added technical guidance to our Space Force customers
  • Support milestone and readiness assessment activities across Warfighting and Counterspace programs
  • Assist in the assessment and integration of new capabilities across Warfighting and Counterspace programs

Qualifications

Required
  • BS in engineering, mathematics or physical sciences
  • Typically 8 years of relevant technical experience
  • Experience with and understanding of radio frequency systems
  • Experience with and understanding of digital signal processing
  • Clear written and oral communications skills
  • Ability to work and interact effectively with the Space Force, other FFRDC, support contractor and prime contractor personnel with minimal supervision
  • Willing to travel domestically approximately once a month
  • This position requires a current top secret clearance, which is issued by the US government. ship is required to obtain a security clearance.
  • Ability to obtain additional security clearances

Preferred
  • Advanced degree in engineering, mathematics or physical sciences
  • Systems engineering experience to include requirements development and system test
  • Experience with satellite communications systems
  • Experience with one or more Department of Defense programs
  • Experience with Air Force and Space Force acquisition and systems engineering methodologies
  • Experience with Aerospace mission assurance processes
  • Experience with programs within Special Programs Division of the Space and Missile Systems Center
