We are currently seeking highly qualified, self-motivated interns to accelerate research at Hewlett Packard Labs towards new applications, core methodologies, and systems. Hewlett Packard Labs is a central research organization of Hewlett Packard Enterprise. Our purpose is to deliver breakthrough technologies and technology advancements that provide a competitive advantage for Hewlett Packard Enterprise.
We are looking for candidates with deep technical expertise in high performance computing, distributed systems and machine learning at scale to come join our research projects on deep learning and probabilistic programming as an intern, with the possibility of longer term co-innovation and collaboration. Our interns will work closely with the research team at Hewlett Packard Labs on software-hardware optimizations for machine learning applications. They will investigate ways how to take advantage of particular hardware to speed up training and inference with deep neural networks, work on novel approaches for probabilistic modeling.
We are particularly interested in individuals with a background in high-performance computing, machine learning (especially neural networks and deep learning), statistics, probabilistic modelling, distributed systems, algorithms, with a good understanding of the current state of the art, major trends and opportunities, and a demonstrated track record in making things real in innovative ways. The candidate should have fundamental understanding of computer architecture, strong programming skills in C/C++ as well as communications/team skills.

- Currently enrolled in a Masters or PhD program in a relevant discipline (e.g. computer science, information technology, statistics, engineering, math, etc.)
Background/experience in machine learning (especially neural networks and deep learning) and statistics (experience with Caffe or TensorFlow is a plus)
Experience with distributed systems
