Requirements

 

  • Working experience on Microsoft SQL Server 2000 , 2005 , 2008 , 2008 R2 , 2012 and 2014. 2016 is a plus
  • Working experience on Idera diagnostics and compliance manager
  • Working Experience with very large databases.
  • Understanding of Windows Server (2008 R2/2012 R2) configuration and management, specifically as it relates to MS SQL Server installations and mission critical systems
  • Working experience on SSIS , SSRS , SSAS
  • Excellent understanding of coding with Microsoft T-SQL and stored procedures.
  • Experience with SANs (EMC), specifically with aspects related to MS SQL Server
  • Knowledge of basic networking concepts.
  • Understands and is able to properly implement backup and disaster recovery procedures.
  • Experience with PowerShell scripting, TFS/Visual Studio Database Projects and SSDT is a plus.
  • Experience on ITIL Process

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Tuning T-SQL queries to improve performance
  • Ensure all database servers are backed up in a way that meets the business’s Recovery Point Objectives (RPO)
  • Troubleshoot SQL Server service outages as they occur, including after-hours and weekends
  • Installation of new SQL server/instances
  • Perform SQL server upgrades to 2014 or higher.
  • Work with other technical and applications team to resolve DB issues and improve performance
  • Perform Capacity planning and forecast.
  • Manage and maintain data in all production and non-production databases and replication servers. Maintain security database; generate reports, queries and documentation. Work with project teams to identify database changes needed.
  • Manage database elements, including creation, alteration, deletion and copying of schemas, databases, tables, views, indexes, stored procedures, triggers and declarative integrity constraints.
  • Set up access privileges to databases. Create and maintain user profiles for database access, including login and password. Perform backup and recovery, configure database parameters, and prototype designs against logical data models.
  • Follow SOX control and generate SOX related reports to be presented to VPs
  • Handle testing, reporting, backup/restore. Manage database distribution, security and access requirements.
  • Recommend and implement solutions for SQL performance monitoring and tuning.
  • Understand SAN based storage and related technologies, specifically as applicable and useful to MS SQL Server installations
  • Process database change requests, including the creation and modification of databases, tables, views, stored procedures, triggers, jobs, etc. in accordance with change control policies.
  • Work outside of normal business hours as required for completing projects, working on deployments and resolving system outages
  • Work with Offshore team and provide 24/7 oncall support as and when needed.
