Job Description

SQL Database Developer

Our client is moving to the cloud over the next few years, do you want to help them get there?

Our Seattle client, a growing e-commerce company, offers a unique product within a much larger and very competitive industry. Their product is a luxury but offers an experience their competitors can rarely match.

They provide a very team focused environment, with room for freedom of expression in your work (i.e. no micro-management).

They seek the services of a Senior (SQL Server) Database Engineer --this is a comprehensive role with hands-on SQL development responsibilities in addition to design tasks.

As the successful Database Engineer, you will be joining a high-performing IT Team and not only can enjoy the benefits of a great work environment, through your work, you will also be contributing to making a customer experience few other companies can match. Because traffic is getting so bad in Seattle, our client implemented a 50% work for home to ensure their employees are not spending their lives sitting in a car. Piqued your interest? Then please read on....

The Role:

As a Senior Database Engineer, you will take responsibility for database performance (SQL Server 2016), installations and management; optimization of the database in addition to creating a standardized, scalable and flexible architecture will be the principle challenges you will take on in this role.

Communication is key, so ensuring the team is aware of any upcoming implementations and communicating architectural standards will be important.

Understanding the business needs of the customer base and balancing those with both technical capabilities and constraints is also a key factor.

Your experience as a Senior Database Engineer will also help our client leverage new technologies / features when you offer recommendations on how they can get the best "bang for their buck".

The SQL Server Database Engineer will leverage two key facets of their role:

Their experience working with middle tier developers in the support of B2B (Business to Business) applications

Development and support of OLTP and Data Warehouse systems

Skills & Qualifications Required:

  • A four-year college and Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science (or something similar), will be highly valued.
  • SQL Database Engineer with 5-plus years Development experience with OLTP and complex Data Warehouse systems.
  • Expert level T-SQL writing abilities, a track record of efficient, scalable database design and the ability to see the "big picture" with regards to database development strategy and design.
  • We are also looking for this person to have experience in the Business Intelligence Studio of SQL Server for both SSIS, SSRS, and SSAS.
  • SSAS is pivotal since this role would also contribute to data mining on financial and other data.
