SQL Developer II

Job Summary

Receives general direction and is competent to work at the highest level of analysis and design on data and analytics projects.  The position requires demonstrated skills leveraging traditional data technologies. The applicant is expected to have a good understanding of SQL, PL/SQL and Relational Database programming concepts.

In this role you will work to deliver data solutions leveraging SQL, PL/SQL, PostgreSQL and Planet Press.  You will utilize your skills and expertise in data management best practices for business need analysis, business requirements analysis, assisting users with data source identification and analysis, converting SQL or PL/SQL scripts to PostgreSQL and testing of Batches. Create and maintain documentation as required for projects, especially recording and tracking project requirements and tasks.

Technical Skills Required

  • SQL 3 years hands on experience with SQL programming and development
  • PL/SQL at least 1 year hands on development preferred  
  • Working knowledge of PostgreSQL is preferred
  • Knowledge of Python/Pycharm is a plus
  • Microsoft Office Suite – Should be able to use EXCEL and WORD
  • Planet Press Suite not required but is a plus

Qualifications and Skill

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field
  • Innovative, collaborative, and team-oriented
  • Strong execution skills and ability to stay on task
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Support and help other members of the team

This is a full-time position in Oakland, CA and in addition to the total annual compensation of $86,136, which is based on 2,080 hours per year this position includes an excellent benefit package with 2 employer paid retirement plans:

  • Carpenters Health and Welfare Trust Fund for California – health and welfare coverage for the employee and eligible dependents, 100% covered by employer contributions – the current contribution rate is $12.10 per hour or $21,054 per year
    • Medical – Kaiser or Anthem Blue Cross

    • Vision – Kaiser or Vision Service Plan (VSP)
    • Prescription – Kaiser or Express Scripts
    • Employee Assistance Program (EAP) – Anthem Blue Cross

Eligibility is based on an hour bank and would typically begin 4 months after your employment begins

  • Pension Plan for Carpenter Funds Administrative Office of Northern California, Inc. – a defined benefit plan with a 5 year vesting period which will provide monthly payments to you for life during your retirement
  • Carpenters Annuity Trust Fund for Northern California – a defined contribution plan – current rate subject to change is $4.05 per each hour worked based on 2,080 hours per year for an estimated annual benefit amount of $8,424.00
  • Northern California Carpenters 401(k) Plan – which you are able to participate in and make pre-tax or after-tax contributions to as soon as your employment begins
  • Basic Life AD&D Insurance – 1 x annual earnings paid to your beneficiary upon your death

In addition,

  • Carpenters Vacation, Holiday and Sick Leave Trust Fund for Northern California – included as part of your gross compensation stated above, this plan pays out an annual benefit of all contributions received on your behalf – current rate, subject to change is $2.95 per each hour worked based on 2,080 hours per year for an estimated annual benefit amount of $6,136.00

    • after 5 years of continuous service you will begin to accrue 3 weeks’ vacation per year
    • after 10 years of continuous service you will begin to accrue 4 weeks’ vacation per year
    • after 18 years of continuous service you will begin to accrue 5 weeks’ vacation per year

Our office is located at 265 Hegenberger Road, Suite 100, Oakland, CA 94621-1480. We have plenty of free parking, are located close to public transportation and we also have electric vehicle charging available on site.
