Sterling has over 20 years of experience working with doctors, startups, medical device companies and providing solutions for healthcare companies that need to scale up quickly to bring medical device software, hardware, mechanical, and mobile medical device apps to market by successfully navigating the FDA and CE approval process. We design our client’s products with a focus on the user needs and requirements, while making smart design choices based on our extensive and diverse product development experience.

 

The Opportunity:

We are currently searching for a Sales Associate to join our team. This opportunity is an entry-level position with pathways to becoming a significant contributor to the Sterling Medical Devices sales team.  A successful Sales Associate candidate is a self-starter with a passion for delivering results and contributing to our overall sales goals.

The Sales Associate is responsible for acquiring new client prospects, and retaining and growing our existing client base, by leveraging selling skills and product and technical knowledge.  Working with the sales team, under the guidance of the Director of Business Development, this position will coordinate sales activity, facilitate the sales process through phone interactions with prospective and current clients, and perform administrative tasks as needed. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop new and existing account opportunities through prospecting activities including cold calling, targeted mailings, and client referrals
  • Answer inbound sales calls and perform high-level qualification of prospects
  • Monitor leads to ensure they are current and that all follow up activities are addressed in a timely manner
  • Support sales calls by taking notes, capturing pertinent information and requirements, and follow up as necessary
  • Schedule sales calls and ensure necessary documentation is executed ahead of time
  • Generate reports and metrics on sales process effectiveness
  • Prepare and coordinate trade show opportunities
  • Generating written content as necessary including case studies, presentations, and emails
  • Report regularly on progress throughout the sales cycle to supervisors
  • Interface with Marketing Department as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, mathematical, or other applicable technical focus
  • 0-3 years’ experience in technical sales preferred
  • Experience and comfort working in a flat and highly collaborative culture that requires initiative and accountability
  • Experience working with an enterprise-level CRM, preferably Salesforce
  • Experience working with an enterprise-level mass-email tool
  • Knowledge of medical development process and standards is a plus
  • Knowledge of FDA/CE approval process is a plus

  • Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Windows and Office Suite, with proficiency in navigating multiple computer programs and CRM while conversing with the prospect or client
  • Ability to intelligently discuss medical hardware, software, firmware, and mechanical development process
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Ability to prioritize a workload with multiple tasks and multiple demands and meet due dates
  • Ability to analyze and resolve issues at both a strategic and functional level
  • Ability to articulately and effectively present complex information clearly and respond to questions Detail oriented and organized
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent time management and time tracking skills
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others
  • Ability to adapt to and work well in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
