Id: 153409 Location: Brooklyn, NY Job Type: Contract This position plays a key role in supporting the Online Unit. The Database Administrator will serve as technical liaison to application and system users and vendors regarding database issues, access, and testing as well as data conversion. S/he will lead, assist and collaborate with stakeholders on the customization, maintenance, and integration of system software and database applications. This includes but is not limited to set-up, monitoring, validating, overseeing marketing campaigns, and generating reports on effectiveness and engagement.
The selected candidate will manage data quality efforts by working with administrative units and the Central Information Technology Systems on establishing processes and procedures to identify and scrub inconsistent data. S/he will also recommend new technology and applications and make suggestions on changes to policies regarding use of database systems to improve system efficiency and security, and encryption.
Candidates will have a Bachelor's degree along with 3+ years of experience in database administration and management, including database design and system analysis. Candidates must have advance knowledge of Salesforce, SQL, Microsoft Office products (including Excel), APIs for web services, and SQL Server. Experience with Slate, Oracle and marketing automation services is preferred, but not mandatory.
Other requirements include excellent organization and strong verbal and written communication skills. Candidates must demonstrate the proven ability to monitor and analyze database problems. Previous programming experience in an object oriented programming language such as Java, APEX, Perl, C/C++/C#, or Python . Candidates must have discretion to manage sensitive and confidential material.
Daily administration, monitoring and support of marketing and enrollment databases - including but not limited to maintaining users, object / data access, validation rules, record types, workflows / data triggers, fields, email templates, page layouts, reports / dashboards, and other reference data. Design and execute scalable and automated campaigns using marketing automation tools and logic (triggers, dynamic content, etc.) that drive self-serve purchases, lead generation, and lead nurturing. Set-up webinar events, registration pages, email reminders and report event data. Target efforts by lead behavior, demographics, firmographics and cross channel content consumption, deriving in better-focused marketing interactions. Analyze campaign performance and make continuous improvements to drive increasing Marketing efficacy. Collaborate with multiple organizational units to facilitate the efficient, controlled flow of information across to meeting goals. Continuous monitoring to ensure data is captured accurately and completely across the organization. Execute controls to ensure data integrity and minimize duplication.
Create and implement a Change Management Processes to control the fix / enhancement lifecycle, from identification and approval, through implementation across Sandbox and Production instances. Implement and maintain relevant marketing metrics (ROI, conversion rate, multi-touch revenue attribution) for every omni-channel marketing effort. Plan, perform, and document testing of new and existing system functionality to business specific requirements - Actively report on enhancements in bi-weekly CRM and Systems Administration meetings. Acts as a liaison between our department, graduate admissions, student affairs, registrar and student accounts and others to provide excellent customer service to our clients and students.
Work with team, as well as any related external vendors to resolve issues, and/or install and maintain 3rd party software tools. Train new and existing staff on how to use database applications. Oversee certain tasks assigned to staff and student workers. Provide excellent customer service. Some travel may be required. Other administrative duties. Build queries to extract admissions, and student enrollment data from various sources. Manage and clean large datasets for optimizing reporting efficiency and accuracy. Identify, investigate and resolve data quality issues. Engage in critical analysis of student and program concerns to resolve issues which may span multiple areas, using advanced technical and professional knowledge. Develop and implement programming, make strategic recommendations for future programs.
Evaluate and determine recommendations on technology resources, negotiate with resources options and vendors. Analyze and develop report requirements, portals, and student facing communications. Manage outreach programs, relationships with external community and university liaisons.
Create data visualizations for discovering and communicating meaningful patterns, trends, and stories with marketing, admissions and enrollment data. Build queries to extract admissions, and student enrollment data from various sources. Manage and clean large datasets for optimizing reporting efficiency and accuracy. Identify, investigate and resolve data quality issues.
3+ years administrating Salesforce.com
Experience with Oracle, Slate, Act-on and GoToWebinar Administration
Must be detail-oriented, organized, self-starter who can adapt quickly to different business needs
Ability to create fields, page layouts, complex workflows, reports, dashboards, and validation rules
Strong Excel Skills and experience working with relational databases
Experience working with Sales and Marketing staff in a support role

Must have the ability to gather data from disparate sources, synthesize data, perform statistical analysis including regressions, and visualize data to identify trends and make recommendations to stakeholders. Analyses include the use of pivot tables, formulas such as vlookup, and charts, as well as tools like Hyperion and Salesforce. Excellent communication and presentation skills to share findings and recommendations with faculty, staff, students.
Strong technical and interpersonal skills are essential, as well as the ability to think critically and analytically, work independently and handle multiple tasks. The ability to distill and convey findings clearly is a critical component of the work. The individual must have the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and work in a fast-paced environment, yet maintain exquisite attention to detail. The individual in this position must understand and be attentive to the unique needs and behaviors of an adult/professional student audience. He/she must be able to understand the interplay between these behaviors and the reports and analyses that are produced to inform decision-makers.
