The Special Programs Division (SPD) supports our USSF customer, SMC/Special Programs, in the development, delivery, operations, and sustainment of unrivaled capabilities to guarantee space superiority for our nation.
The selected Senior Project Leader will serve as a critical member of a small team supporting the planning, acquisition, and development of an advanced communication system. This position is for a technical and acquisition leadership role within an integrated program office of Air Force, Aerospace, and SE&I contractors. The selected applicant will lead efforts with respect to the evaluation, acquisition, and development of advanced communication systems and will have the opportunity to participate in all aspects of the project life cycle, including design reviews, integration and test, and early operational testing.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Serve as primary Aerospace interface to Customer space vehicle lead.
  • Provide technical leadership in acquiring current generation space capabilities and developing future architectures.
  • Maintain situation awareness of all spacecraft hardware / software related issues, and proactively utilize Aerospace resources in support of timely resolution and / or risk assessments.
  • Evaluate contractor deliverables and support mission assurance planning and implementation.
  • The selected applicant will coordinate relevant Aerospace ETG contributions, and keep management informed of program status
  • Interact with a diverse professional network across Aerospace, the Government, and contractors in a manner that is open and inclusive to solve challenging issues through spacecraft design, integration, and test.

What You Need to be Successful

Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelors degree from an accredited program in applicable STEM area.
  • 12 years of experience in hardware development and acquisition.
  • Demonstrated ability to form and lead small, high performance teams
  • Experience with government acquisition of space capabilities.
  • Willing to travel domestically approx. 10% of time
  • This position requires current TS/SCI with the ability to obtain additional clearances which are issued by the US government. U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance

How You Can Stand Out

It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:
  • Masters or PhD degree from an accredited program in applicable STEM area.
  • Active program clearance for the Space Force's Advanced MILSATCOM Division
  • Demonstrated performance in design, development, build, integration, test, and / or deployment of space systems, specifically within the spacecraft bus.
  • Experience in mission assurance processes
