Our Opportunity:

Schwab Cybersecurity Services? (?SCS?) Data Discovery and Protection (?DDP?) team is responsible for the Firm?s data loss prevention service.  We are looking for an experienced Senior Developer tasked with developing systems and automation for the Data Protection team.  This team?s mission is to protect Schwab?s most valuable assets: its client information and their trust. Our ideal candidate is a confident self-starter who is not afraid to roll up their sleeves and engage with their team to solve difficult problems. You have a strong development background, intellectual curiosity, and a passion for building systems and workflows that enable efficiencies and reduce manual effort.   

What you?ll do:

  • Collaborate with business partners to identify functionality, enhancements, prioritize, and identify backlog items for quality improvements
  • Develop and improve existing systems and processes 
  • Triage, troubleshoot, and identify root cause of application and system issues in production
  • Leverage, follow and support Agile/Kanban practices. Deliver new and improved data protection capabilities, workflows, automation, analytics, visualizations, reporting, and actionable value-added risk intelligence in short, sprint-like outcomes.
  • Coordinate infrastructure maintenance activities, such as Disaster Recovery tests, OS currency, and certificate renewals.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation
  • Partner with fellow agile team members in support of sprint delivery
  • Partner with QA resources to design and implement automated functional and regression tests 

What you have:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science is preferred. 
  • 5+ years of experience successfully developing cross-platform applications in a fast-paced Agile environment. 
  • Demonstrated ability to perform business analysis and synthesize technical and functional requirements. 
  • A demonstrated ability to build and maintain high performing systems that meet or exceed expectations.
  • Strong object oriented design skills with proven track record of well-engineered design.
  • 4+ years programming to SQL databases
  • Ability to grasp difficult concepts and large architectures quickly and contribute at the architectural and coding levels.
  • Strong written and verbal communications, teamwork, and problem-solving skills are necessary.
  • Ability to interact and communicate successfully with business and technology stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with Visio.
  • A functional familiarity with operating systems (including Microsoft Window and Linux), and relational database management systems (including Oracle and MS SQL Server), is required.
  • Strong estimation skills with ability to provide reasonable estimates for development timelines.
  • Experience with unit testing and history of successful interaction with a QA group
  • Experience developing applications in various 4th GL languages and architectures (Java, C#, Advanced SQL)
  • Eperience and a desire to mentor peers and junior staff ? Capability and strong desire to be a technical leader within a scrum environment
  • Ability to work independently, but also as a contributing member of a dynamic and fast-paced organization that spans multiple time zones and locations, is required.


  • Familiarity with Atlassian stack (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, Bamboo) is a plus 
  • Financial Services experience is a plus
