Senior Business Objects Administrator/Engineer

Location: Falls Church, VA

Job Description:

Successful candidates will require an ability to apply consulting experience and skills in analysis, design, and early development of complex systems using SAP Business Objects to provide our client oversight of modernization and sustainment of high availability enterprise applications. The candidate will leverage experience in architecting, configuring, building, deploying, and supporting SAP Business Objects as a shared service across the enterprise with diverse data sources such as DB2, Oracle, SQL Server, and others. The successful candidate will architect and engineer upgrades, modifications, and sustainment of applications running on both UNIX-based platforms and Windows-based platforms in a virtualized enterprise. A deep understanding of DoD and government security standards and policies are needed to ensure all deployed changes are highly secure and available. The candidate will work directly with senior-level systems and software engineers and architects to implement solution designs in a large complex worldwide enterprise.

  • Seven (7) or more years in Administration of Business Objects Business Intelligence Platform to include the latest version
  • Ten (10) or more years total experience supporting enterprise-class applications in a significant engineering or administrative role
  • Experience with Linux or other UNIX variants such as IBM AIX.
  • Experience with Oracle, DB2 and other enterprise-level databases
  • Experience in BO Universe design (Desired)
  • Security + Certification (Desired)

Typical Duties/Abilities:
  • BO Servers Upgrade from lower versions to the latest version BO BI.
  • Server patch management where new patches and service packs are needed
  • Migration of reports/universes/users along with security settings from one development/testing/staging to Prod Environment following Change Management processes.
  • Design and implement security by creating user groups, granting access to BO based applications to users and adding security restrictions (application level, folder level, and object level) based on user profile and user groups.
  • Create access levels(Super/Basic/Develop) based on project needs.
  • Configure/Optimize Server settings. Apply trace logs on servers in case of troubleshooting complex incidents.
  • Start /Stop, Enable/Disable, Clone, Add, remove BO Services on requirement.
  • Work with SAP Support in case any issue is not resolved internally.
  • Monitoring day to day BO services and scheduled jobs.

  • Experience working with Agile methodologies (Scrum, Lean Startup, XP) and cross-functional teams (Product Owners, Scrum Masters, Developers, Designers, Business Analysts)
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with a track record of taking solution ownership
  • Communication skills key! Demonstrate an ability to effectively communicate with leadership and key stakeholders.
  • Ability to articulate design and configuration choices and bring about consensus

  • BS degree in Information Technology or another related technical discipline
  • Certification in SAP Business Objects Administration (Desired)
