Job Description

MID-LEVEL INFORMATION SECURITY ENGINEER –VULNERABILITY MANAGEMENT

 

ALTA IT Services has a contract to hire opening for a mid-level Security Engineer with Vulnerability Management experience. The position will support a leading health insurer based in downtown Washington DC.

 

SKILLS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • 3+ years of experience as a vulnerability management analyst
  • Assist in generating reports and metrics
  • Assist with Asset management within a scanning tool such as Tenable Security Center
  • Assist in documenting the processes and procedures
  • Perform vulnerability scans and develop applicable vulnerability reports
  • Research vulnerability impact and remediation steps
  • Present vulnerability reports to stakeholders
  • Experience operating vulnerability and compliance scanning tools
  • Analyze scan results and engage with stakeholders to resolve identified vulnerabilities; document exceptions, and false positives
  • Experience establishing and configuring scan policies

OVERVIEW

  • 3-5 years of experience
  • Subject matter expertise in vulnerability management, to include scanning, analysis, and development of remediation plans
  • Proven experience performing vulnerability and compliance scans and developing vulnerability reports 
  • Experience conducting research on vulnerability impact and/or remediation.
  • Proven ability to elicit, document, analyze and verify requirements.
  • Experience with user acceptance testing concepts.
  • Experience analyzing scan results and engaging with stakeholders to resolve identified vulnerabilities; document exceptions, and false positives.
  • Attention to detail and excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. 
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to set priorities and handle multiple projects concurrently. 
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to Assist in generating reports and metrics

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • This position requires a bachelor’s degree in Cyber Security, Information Technology, Computer Science, Business or relevant work experience in application security analysis, systems analysis and/or testing background and experience with direct Business Analyst experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to build consensus and agreement and bring resolution to contentious issues and entrenched interests. 
  • Demonstrated successful use of AGILE and/or Waterfall SDLC methodology 
  • Assist in documenting the processes and procedures. Present vulnerability reports to stakeholders 
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office tool set – MS Word, MS Excel, MS Project and MS Visio.

 

PREFERRED

  • Applicable security certifications
  • Understands end to end patch management lifecycle
  • Experience with security vulnerability scanning tools.
  • Experience with healthcare insurance industry, especially BCBS plans.
  • Experience with software testing, test management and defect tracking tools.
  • Strong understanding of managed care principles, claims processing guidelines, Member contracts and Provider Agreements.
  • Effective presentation, negotiation and influencing skills to interface with all levels of management and to facilitate large meetings across the organization.
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills.

 

HOURLY RATE RANGE: $45/hr. to $50/hr. range, commensurate with experience. Benefits available

Upon conversion to FTE status this position will be salaried with benefits and paid time off.
