ABOUT SVB CAPITAL

Headquartered in Silicon Valley, SVB Capital is a multi-strategy investment platform targeting the Innovation Economy with approximately $6.4B of assets under management across venture capital fund of funds, technology and life sciences direct funds, and credit funds. Since 1999, we have been the premier investment partner to global investors for accessing the Innovation Economy.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

The data engineer will help build scalable database infrastructure, as well as implement new data operations and engineering initiatives to support the firm's investment businesses. The Data Engineer will join the Data Science and Engineering team but will also work closely with investment and finance professionals. This individual will report to Manager, Data Science and will be involved in the implementation of new products, tools, and applications.

Database Skills: Very comfortable working with relational databases (SQL), Advanced SQL with analytical capabilities, experience building ETLs, proficient in Microsoft Excel.

Programming Skills: Comfortable with many - but not necessarily all - of the following programming languages/frameworks: Python (Django, Flask), Node.js (Express), HTML, CSS (Bootstrap), JavaScript (React, Angular, Vue)

Data Visualization/Business Intelligence: Comfortable with Tableau and Power BI

Data Science: Comfortable with tools such as pandas, R, Julia, MATLAB, or any other statistical software.

Other: Comfortable working with Git/GitHub, Docker, AWS, and other developer tools.

Investment experience (particularly in VC) is preferred.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3 + years of relevant experience in a product/engineering
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent is required
  • Venture capital industry knowledge
  • Basic understanding of financial terms and concepts
