Job Description

Overview

Design, build, and/or deliver data solutions and components that solve banking business problems, in collaboration with digital channel groups, product owners, and infrastructure teams.

Position can have hybrid schedule (remote/office), but individual must sit locally within range of Pasadena office

Responsibilities

  • Design new data source models that can scale to accommodate growing business needs, adhering to data security standards, and compliance needs.
  • Understand and capture business requirements and document design approaches. Create data flows, ER diagrams and technical infrastructure artifacts to support the development.
  • Develop cloud based and in-house ETL solutions for consuming data from multiple data sources.
  • Setup batch and real-time processes to automate the data refresh/sync between operational systems and reporting data sources.
  • Deploy analytical models on the data models to create dashboards that support the operational, fraud management, and marketing needs.
  • Collaborate as part of a cross-functional Agile team to create and enhance software
  • Leverage CI and CD best practices, including test automation and monitoring, to ensure successful deployment of data models and application code.
  • Performance tuning of SQL scripts, OLTP/OLAP app database components, and data solutions on need basis
  • Work closely with vendors, production support, database and infrastructure groups to manage problems in real-world production systems.
  • Manage junior resources and interact with offshore groups as needed.

Qualifications

    Bachelor's Degree and 8 years of experience in Technical work in Application Development, Server Administration, Information Security, or Engineering OR High School Diploma or GED and 12 years of experience in Technical work in Application Development, Server Administration, Information Security, or Engineering
    Preferred Education: Bachelor Degree in Computer Science
  • 8+ years of experience in Data engineering with focus on architecture, integration, analytics, master data management, data governance and data privacy
  • Experience with cloud data environment is preferred - Microsoft Azure, Snowflake, Amazon Redshift
  • Experience with APIs - REST, legacy webservices, and SOA
  • Some experience with data lake solutions including Hadoop, or Azure is preferred
  • Good understanding of tools such as Databricks, Teradata, Netezza, Informatica is recommended
  • Good experience on traditional data stores - MS SQL (preferred), Oracle, MySQL, or DB2
  • Highly proficient with SQL, and experience with Python/shell a plus
  • Proficient with Agile SDLC and life cycle tools such as JIRA, Azure DevOps, Git etc.
  • Experience with Microsoft Power BI (preferred), or similar tools such as QlikView or Tableau
  • Working knowledge of MS Office apps, Visio, SharePoint and Teams is a plus
  • Experience with project management tools such as Microsoft projects is a plus
  • Experience managing a team of technical developers and testers and delivering enterprise solutions
  • Experience in Banking/Finance industry, Marketing or data privacy projects is a plus
  • Willingness to learn and grow

  • Effective oral and written communication skills while interfacing with internal peers and managers
