It is the primary responsibility of the Senior Database Administrator is to build and maintain all database systems. This position reports to Senior Manager - Database Operations in the Information Management Department and partners with other Information Technology departments and vendors. The Senior Database Administrator assists during production incidents and resolution, which can occur anytime 24x7, and is responsible for mentoring more junior database administrators.
  • Install, upgrade, and maintain database systems.
  • Manage system storage for the databases and applications.
  • Execute performance monitoring, reporting, and tuning of database systems.
  • Manage and maintain back-ups and recovery process and procedures.
  • Install and maintain database server, replication, and client environments.
  • Develop, review, and tune scripts, triggers, and store procedures.
  • Assist in the design of database structures, packages, and procedures.
  • Manage security access and controls.
  • Assist with production incidents and resolutions, including root cause analysis and recommendations.
  • Implement database reporting and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure audit trails are maintained using manual or automated systems.
  • Mentor more junior database administrators
  • Perform other job related duties as requested.

  • At least 7 years of database administration experience in a commercial environment or related experience.
  • Previous experience utilizing Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, UNIX, AIX, and/or other related systems.
  • Previous experience with relational database concepts, data storage concepts, and/or backup and recovery of database systems.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Have interpersonal skills to deal effectively with all business contacts.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.
  • Able to effectively communicate in English, in both written and oral forms.

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Certification in a major database management system.
  • Previous experience working in a similar resort setting.
  • Previous experience leading and mentoring a team.
  • Previous experience with Golden Gate Software, Microsoft clustering/Oracle RAX, Microsoft SSIS/Terminal Server, AS400, storage area networks, active directory security, data warehousing, data replication, and/or related experience.
