Responsibilities

Summary
We are looking for a highly motivated Senior Software Engineer to assist in the development and evolution of enterprise platform and services, to include enterprise data services. Drawing on expertise in acquiring, developing, and deploying software and services using continuous integration, continuous delivery methodologies. The Senior Software Engineer will serve as a senior technical advisor to the National Reconnaissance Office performing enterprise software engineering and integration activities for the delivery of platform, data, and enterprise service offerings for mission applications and services. The Senior Software Engineer will coordinate reach-back to Aerospace technical staff to bring industry-leading subject matter expertise to bear on critical customer needs.

Key Functions
  • Serve as a senior advisor to the US Government performing software engineering for the build-out and operations of state-of-the-art software platforms in support of third-party on-boarding, development, and operations of mission and business applications;
  • Collaborate with teams to support adoption of platform offerings and/or increase or enhance platform and enterprise service offerings in support of mission application and service usability;
  • Partner with teams to optimize software architecture and design of hosted applications and services;
  • Use, develop, and integrate analytical methods and tools to evaluate platform architectural concepts, enterprise service designs, and platform operations efficiency initiatives for lifecycle cost, schedule, performance, risk, usability, and resilience to disruptive events;
  • Assist the US Government in using agile processes to plan for and manage integration activities between the information technology infrastructure, platform offerings, mission software services, and mission applications in support of mission driven objectives;
  • Assist the US Government in developing technical guidance, enhancing engineering processes, and crafting acquisition documentation to support the continuous integration and continuous delivery of software services;
  • Effectively communicate task status, methods, results, and recommendations in briefings and formal technical reports.
  • Work as a subject matter expert in the enterprise to understand and satisfy user needs;
  • Formulate acquisition strategies supporting the US Government's strategic vision;
  • Help the Government formulate pre-solicitation strategies and participate in source selections to achieve best-value solutions from industry


Qualifications

Required
  • Bachelor's degree in a computer science, enterprise architecture, data science, engineering, information technology, mathematics or related field.
  • 12 or more years of increasingly responsible professional engineering/scientific experience
  • Experience in software architecture, engineering, and development
  • Familiarity with US Government acquisition and systems engineering processes,
  • Active TS/SCI clearance
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with customers, Aerospace colleagues, and industry contractors;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to present method and results effectively in briefings, formal reports, and informal communication
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and lead cross-functional, cross-organizational teams to execute studies and assessments
  • Travel as necessary to support job requirements
  • Ability to occasionally flex work schedule to accommodate deadlines
  • This position requires the ability to have and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.


Preferred
  • Advanced degree(s) in computer science, enterprise architecture, data science, engineering, information technology, mathematics or related field;
  • Knowledge data science, data architecture, data management, GEOINT or SIGINT processing;
  • Experience working with software developers in a technical oversight role, such as supporting software release planning, quality assurance, deployment, or sustainment
  • Experience with US Government acquisition and systems engineering processes,
  • Demonstrated expertise in agile-based software development and/or micro-services software architecture;
  • Demonstrated ability to develop project plans, identify high-impact deliverables, and manage schedule commitment;
