Sr. Information Security Engineer Washington, DC
The Senior Information Security Engineer provides technical expertise in the planning, design, installation, and maintenance of security systems in support of security policies. The Senior Information Security Engineer will work with systems and network engineers to identify risk and address IT security issues. Support and maintain a broad suite of information security infrastructure tools, accountable for security infrastructure component availability and integrity, monitoring compliance with IT security policy.
Primary Responsibilities Duties
Identify, evaluate and implement technical security controls to continuously improve the organization's security posture.
Engineer, implement and monitor security measures for the protection of computer systems, networks and information.
Serve as subject matter expert in the knowledge of latest cyber security industry trends, technology tools and practices
Design computer security architecture and develop detailed cyber security designs to meet policy standards.
Configure and troubleshoot security infrastructure devices.
Develop and maintain standards, procedures and documentation for all systems and infrastructure.
Develop technical solutions and new security tools to help mitigate security vulnerabilities and automate repeatable tasks.
Assist in the planning and development of new security technology to improve performance and productivity, reduce IT costs, improve profitability, and ensure regulatory compliance.
Assist in the identification and remediation of vulnerabilities.
Develops and implements information security standards and procedures for systems, applications, and third-party systems and vendors
Provide Tier 3 support and escalation and act as a subject matter expert for security-related incidents and problems.
Support and execute incident, problem and change management processes according to established policies and procedures.
Solve complex problem situations and participate in the identification of opportunities for improvement to processes, procedures, or tools.
Coordinate and execute of tasks within configuration management, change management, performance assessment, engineering analysis and system integrations
Leads teams on engineering including planning, change management, monitoring execution, and status reporting, according to establish project management processes
Coaches engineers, administrators, and other IT team members in company standards, techniques, technologies, and methodologies.
Assumes additional responsibilities as necessary for the continued growth and advancement of the firm.
Proven work experience as an information security engineer.
Experience with log aggregation and SIEM tools.
Experience with vulnerability assessment and penetration testing tools.
Experience with programming and scripting languages and text manipulation tools.
Experience in building and maintain security systems.
Hands on experience ins security systems, including firewalls, intrusion detections systems, anti-virus software, vulnerability scan tools, authentication systems, log management, content filtering, etc.
Thorough understanding of the latest security principles, techniques, and protocols.
Problem solving skill and the ability to work under pressure.
Data entry skills, mathematical and logical aptitude and general interpersonal skills are necessary.
