Our Opportunity:

We are looking for a Senior Manager of Security Technology Research and Development. A Sr. Manager is hands on and is a driven, self-starter and team-player that can clearly articulate a vision, inspire a team, and produce measurable results.  

What you’ll do:

  • Provide leadership and influence secure by design concepts that will lead to new capabilities for Schwab’s controls and risk management.
  • Manage one or more high visibility security design programs that address strategic improvements in Schwab’s security and risk posture.
  • Concentration on and dedication to researching and testing new capabilities and products that empower tactical and engineering teams to execute quickly on strategic objectives.
  • Own, manage and mature the Security Technology Rationalization effort within Schwab Cybersecurity Services.
  • Own, manage, and market internally the strategy for moving Schwab Cybersecurity teams from the “left side” to the “right side” of the security technology lifecycle curve.
  • Manage daily work volume for team members, and prepare periodic status reports and presentations.
  • Provide thought leadership and act as a proxy to address critical issues having business or departmental impact.
  • Transform team execution and delivery through establishment and support of Agile/Kanban practices.
  • Deliver new and improved capabilities, analytics, visualizations, reporting, and actionable work products in short, sprint-like outcomes.
  • Develop and present both high and low level presentations, and influence the audience to achieve consensus on strategic directions.
  • Coach, mentor and develop individual and team performance and engagement.
  • Oversee the creation and management of departmental budgets.
  • Orchestrate all daily activities within the team and oversee the management of its processes. 

What you have:

  • Bachelor of Science in Information Technology, Information Security, Computer Science (MS preferred) or related fields is desired, however work experience may be considered for a highly qualified and talented individual. Additional security training with certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CISA is desirable.
  • Previous experience in leading technology research and development teams is highly desired.
  • Attention to detail in all activities and deliverables.
  • 5+ years in a technical information security assessment or architecture role.
  • 12 years + of experience within middle to upper management positions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to influence, understand and balance differing needs and objectives.
  • Ability to take a vision and develop a detailed plan to accomplish the vision.
  • Strong organizational skills and an ability to develop, manage and execute projects simultaneously and independently, including cross-functional projects.
  • Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills.
