AceInfo is currently seeking a Senior Network Engineer to support our federal project, in Washington, DC

 

 

Project Overview:

 

This contract provides the technical software development support (38 systems total) to the grant lifecycle (pre-award, award generation, post award) for the COPS Office. The project consists of a team of 28 staff members divided into 2 major teams (AMG and NexGen).    

 

 

Position Description:

 

Provide Network & Infrastructure Management Support in a Software Application Development Environment.  As the COPS contract is a software development contract exclusively, the Network Engineer will be responsible for assisting COPS for all network and infrastructure related tasks and services. The network support is contracted to a third party vendor (JMD). However, the Network Engineer must be able to track and monitor all COPS related services and tasks related to the network and serve as an expert or SME for COPS Federal IT Staff to ask questions or seek guidance. The Network Engineer also must understand methodologies such as Scrum and Kanban that are used on the project. He or she must also report on the status of his or her tasks and deliverables to the Program Manager, Deputy Program Manager and Federal IT customer.

Responsibilities:

  • Designs and defines system architecture for new or existing computer systems and networks
  • Administers, deploys, manages, monitors, upgrades, migrates, and designs servers to support day-to-day operations of a software development environment
  • Leads effort for migration to cloud environment
  • Reviews completion and implementation of system and network additions and/or enhancements and makes recommendations to management and/or clients
  • Manages server infrastructure pertaining to VMs, conducts server upgrades, plans and implements disaster recovery solutions
  • Identifies, analyzes, and resolves system and network problems.
  • Designs systems and network enhancements
  • Designs and deploys system monitoring and reporting solutions
  • Expert working knowledge of networking hardware
  • Develops and directs tests to ensure systems and networks meet documented user requirements.
  • Evaluates threats, risks, and vulnerabilities and develops countermeasures to ensure continuation in the event of an IT services disruption.
  • Researches, evaluates, recommends, designs, tests, and implements new security/application security technologies
  • Provide technical services and support for the following areas:
    • Network level: LAN server connectivity, intranets, extranets, routers, firewalls, and security
    • Internal systems, cloud and network infrastructure
    • Remote monitoring and management of system alerts and notifications
  • Develops documentation on new or existing systems and networks.
  • Serves as liaison with clients, participating in meetings to ensure client needs are met
  • Be on call for responding to system outages
  • Participates in special projects as required

Qualifications:

  • 5-10 Years of directly related experience in network analysis and design
  • 5 Years of Network Engineering Experience primarily with CISCO and recent experience in a virtual environment
  • CCNP: Cisco Certified Network Professional preferred but not required
  • CCIE: Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert preferred but not required
  • 5-10 Years of General IT experience, and recent experience with Windows 7, Windows server 2012, Active directory, and DHCP Work in a fast-paced federal contract environment
  • Support multiple deliverables in parallel
  • Follow technical direction
  • nderstanding of federal guidelines for information security and contract work
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience

 

Additional Requirement:

U.S. Citizen is required for the position.  Active Public Trust Clearance is required or Candidate must successfull pass a Federal Background Investigation in order to obtain an Public Trust Clearance.
