Summary: The Senior Network Engineer will evaluate, design, document, install, implement, test, and perform problem isolation and resolution

  • Maintain a complex range of computer network components and systems such as CISCO and Juniper Routers

  • Perform functions across a wide range of network facilities to include: physical media, protocol stacks, hubs, routers, bridges, gateways, digital servers, line drivers, telecommunications transport facilities, mainframe VTAM, NCP (related software/hardware) and network management components

  • Provide client consulting and training on the interfacing and use of the network facilities

  • Plan and coordinate major computer network initiatives

  • Research, evaluate, and recommend new computer network equipment and technologies

  • Utilize monitoring, performance analysis, network management, software and hardware equipment to trouble shoot and isolate problems, gauge network performance, and trace data and protocol activity

  • Devise solutions to complex operational problems within the capacity and operational limitations of installed equipment

  • Develop and execute contingency plans for network software and hardware failures including isolated and major outages

  • Provide internal consulting, technical guidance, information and support to application developers, computer operations, workstation support, company management and departmental clients

  • Assist in internal training program

  • Take over the monitoring and configuration of all network security products

  • Individual will be expected to work closely across application and networking teams to configure and to maintain a secure ports, protocols, and services implementations

  • Will work closely with the Information Assurance team to ensure all relevant documentation is accurate and complete

Minimum Qualifications: (To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.)

  • Master’s degree (in Computer Science, Engineering, Economics or Math) or equivalent
  • 10+ years of related (telecommunication analysis) experience.
    • Experience supporting SIEM
    • Experience with Cisco ASA firewalls, Intrusion Prevention Systems, and management tools and techniques, including Cisco Security Manager and SolarWinds suite of products

  • Cisco CCNP Security or equivalent certification required

  • Security+ or equivalent certification to meet DoD 8570.1M requirements for IAT Level II required

  • ITIL Foundations desired

  • IASAE II: CISSP (or Associate), CASP CE, CSSLP

  • TS/SCI required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge in networking, switching, routing, and network security, as this position will also help track and diagnosis network performance issues and develop a network performance profiles

  • Requires up to date knowledge with Cisco ASA firewalls, Intrusion Prevention Systems, and management tools and techniques, including Cisco Security Manager and SolarWinds suite of products
