Job Description

We have been retained by our client in Dallas, Texas (Coppell, Texas) to deliver a Senior Project Manager on a regular full-time, direct-hire basis. Our client is seeking to hire an individual who is a cross functional PM, who understands complex processes, and preferably electro-mechanical product manufacturing, or contract manufacturing, who will strive to make an impact in the product development process, keeping all teams aligned to design, develop, manufacture and deliver developed products on time. Take requirements from Product Management team to the Software and Hardware / Mechanical Engineering team leads to translate into functional requirements / goals for manufacturing. This is a cross-functional PM working across mechanical, electrical, electronics, manufacturing, sales, software & hardware engineering teams. This PM assures technical leads complete functional specifications on time.




  • Set up / maintains project structure (timing, team, budget), plans required resource

  • Develops program plans including timing, work plans, program milestones, critical path, risk management, cost/benefit analysis, staffing, and budgets

  • Plans team meeting schedules and timing for key meetings including technical and launch readiness reviews

  • Systematically manages program risks

  • Assess risks with cross-functional teams

  • Mitigate risks with cross-functional teams

  • Escalates issues to management that can not be solved within the team

  • Solves any conflicts

  • Captures process improvements and drives those changes to the appropriate groups for agreement and incorporation of process change

  • Drive all aspects of the New Product Development process




  • Task Execution

    • Leads cross-functional team; New Product Development team typically consists of Engineering, Product Management, Sales, Marketing, Finance, Operations, and Service

    • Integrates lessons learned from previous projects

    • Receives and critically assesses cost for price / engineering changes decisions/opportunities

    • Responsible for tracking product development financials

    • Responsible for planning and follow-up of prototype/engineering development runs

    • Responsible for generating lessons learned

    • Responsible for ensuring new or novel ideas are properly captured and protected by initiating and follow through with the legal team for intellectual property



  • Communication and Reporting

    • Communicates to internal stakeholders (timing, project status, change management)

    • Cascades / publishes information to team and reporting to management by using project status dashboards

    • Ensures timely and complete update of project documentation

    • Records and drives actions of project meeting

    • Provides immediate feedback on team member performance to functional managers

    • Utilizes central storage of information and encourages use to ensure one source of truth

    • Ensure team recognizes key milestones and maintain progress towards and achievement of these milestones



  • Process development

    • Advocate of and Project Manager of New Product Development process development and maturity within the organization

    • Identifies opportunities for process improvement





Requirements




  • Bachelor s Degree (preferable in mechanical or software engineering) with strong capabilities to absorb technical information. Minimum of 4-5+ years experience, with managing technical projects, preferably dealing with cross-functional teams, preferably including some manufacturing knowledge

  • PMP certification preferred or minimum of 4-5+ years experience in product design and development

  • Knowledge or experience with computer-controlled electromechanical systems would be advantageous

  • Proven knowledge of project management methodology, tools and techniques.




Preferred Skills




  • Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate and drive high-performance cross-functional teams

  • Excellent systems design and development knowledge in manufacturing or contract manufacturing, preferably electronic/electrical/electro-mechanical/mechanical.

  • Independent: able to work with autonomy within project targets

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Quality focus with ability to communicate customer requirements (where the customers for the program include external and internal groups)



Solid computer skills MS Office, MS PowerPoint and MS Teams




  • Experience with utilizing technology to drive projects (ie SmartSheet, Projectmanager.com, DevApps, Basecamp, Awana etc)




  • Working knowledge of financial management (project costing / EBIT etc.) desirable





Employment Type: Regular Full-Time



Annual Salary: $85,000 95,000 / year
