Job Description




The Plantronics R&D Team is responsible for creating the next generation of Plantronics experimental software solutions, wearable device prototypes, and delivering technical demonstrations of new technology. Members of the R&D Team are passionate about all technical aspects of hardware and software design research including, architecture, implementation, and testing.
We are currently seeking a highly motivated, team-oriented, Sr. Data Scientist to join our fast moving organization and create our next generation of cloud-based software solutions. This hands-on technologist will work closely with our small, but multi-disciplined team, to lead the creation of data analytics that explore the boundaries of audio endpoints in the IOT landscape.
Our ideal candidate will have 5+ years of demonstrable, professional experience of technical leadership in the application of intelligent algorithms that solve real world problems. Being a polymath of data engineering, firmware and hardware development would be considered a plus.
Core Responsibilities:
Responsibilities:

  • Invent and fast iterate on novel solutions to challenging multi-dimensional data related problems
  • Provide subject matter expertise in statistical analysis, data engineering and data visualization
  • Own the design and rapid implementation of end-to-end prototype SW solutions
  • Work collaboratively with R&D and Corporate Strategy team to identify high value proposition problems to solve
  • Communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical parties in presentations and informal discussions




Requirements:

  • MS CS/CE/AMS and 5+ years of professional experience in data analytics
  • Strong applied knowledge of machine-learning methodologies (e.g. supervised and unsupervised learning, feature extraction, deep learning etc.)
  • Proficiency in data science algorithms including decision trees, clustering, regression, and neural networks
  • Strong programming skills in at least one object oriented programming language (MATLAB, Java, C++, Python, etc.)



Desired Qualifications:
In addition to the above, a successful candidate will be able to show working knowledge with the following:


  • Audio theory and measurement
  • Firmware development
  • Knowledge of data management systems
  • Experience with data processing tools (e.g. Hadoop, Spark, Map-reduce, Hive)
