Job Description

Networkers Technology have partnered with a leading media company in the Atlanta area to find a Systems Engineer (Linux) to join them on a contract to direct hire basis.

As the Systems Engineer your responsibilities will include:

  • Monitoring all production systems for quality and performance ensuring that any failures or critical issues are immediately addressed.
  • Performing analysis of recurring incidents to initiate a problem report.
  • Ensuring that processes, procedures, troubleshooting guides, are developed and maintained for the team.
  • Collaborating with other groups to set standards and document production configurations.
  • Assisting with the recommendation of policies and procedures to be used to support the environment.
  • Supporting scheduled installations/upgrades and maintenance in accordance with established IT policies and procedures and business requirements.

As the Systems Engineer your experience will include:

  • Bachelor s in computer science or software engineering or equivalent practical work experience.
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience within a media or internet technology operations environment with production support experience in a Linux/Unix and Windows environment.
  • Expertise within internet application support experience within open source platform environments.
  • Advanced technical competency in server administration, client service, user authentication, configuration management tools, internal & external monitoring tools, networking troubleshooting and concepts and shell scripting.
  • Configuration experience with commercial, open source and SaaS based monitoring tools.
  • Programming experience with two or more web/systems programming languages.
  • Quick and effective troubleshooting experience.
  • Working knowledge of private/public IaaS or SaaS cloud service providers such as AWS or Rackspace leveraging EC2, S3 or other services.
  • Experience in enterprise storage systems (NAS, SAN, NFS, Fiber Channel, Object Storage), clustering solutions, filesystems, RAID, Volume Managers.
  • Solid VMware (ESX), KVM, or Xen experience and general virtualization best practices.
  • Strong working knowledge of some or all of the following full-stack web development environments:
