Job Description

JOB SUMMARY:

Visionist is currently seeking a Senior System Administrator who will be responsible for configuring and administering Windows and Linux systems on a diverse network, which includes both servers and workstations.  

 

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Helps to develop, document, communicate, and enforce a network technology policy.

  • Able to work occasional evenings/weekends to support upgrades/patch management.

  • Supports critical operations during standard and non-standard working hours.

  • Conducts quarterly cyber security system audits.

  • Responsible for the installation and configuration of new software and hardware, including the server network, devices, and firewalls.

  • Responsible for monitoring system performance, IT system operations, and storage utilization.

  • Plans and prepares for necessary hardware or software upgrades to support system growth and communicates planned schedule effectively.

  • Manages user accounts, assets, and assign and update security permissions on the network according to security policy.

  • Responds efficiently to help desk requests.

  • Leads other administrators as well as coordinates with different departments.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s in information systems or related field preferred.

  • Requires experience managing a team with strong problem-solving skills, resourcefulness, organization skills, and initiative.

  • Advanced knowledge of networking and distributed computing environment concepts, as well as a sound understanding of the principles of routing, firewalls, and client/server applications.

  • Strong knowledge of applicable laws and data privacy policies.

  • Experience with troubleshooting and issue resolution principles, methodologies, and techniques.

  • Strong desire to learn new technologies.

  • Must possess advanced skills in datacenter management, cloud services, virtualization, storage area networks (SANs), data/system backups, and asset management.

  • Must have expert remote troubleshooting and customer service skills.

  • Understanding of security requirements for classified DoD Information Systems (IS) is strongly preferred.

  • A working knowledge of scripting languages (for automation purposes) is desired.

  • Familiarity with Amazon Web Services (AWS), specifically EC2 and S3.

  • Clear and concise ability to brief technical projects to non-technical audiences and customers.

  • Strong communication skills.

  • Must be able to lift more than 25 pounds.
