SUMMARY

The bank has an opening for a Senior Systems Administrator which is a role that will provide an opportunity for a qualified candidate to work on the design, build and administration of the banks critical systems.  This role also has the potential to be part of transformational and modernization efforts which may include working with Cloud hosting.  The implementation of hybrid email solutions, migration of servers and systems, possibly to a Cloud environment, and modernization of existing systems and platforms are all bodies of work that this role will be focused on.

The ideal candidate for the Senior Systems Administrator role will have strong experience with the Microsoft suite of products including Active Directory administration and Group Policy Objects, Windows Servers, SharePoint, Office 365 and Exchange.  Recent experience with Cloud migrations or hosted solutions and virtualization solutions such as VMWare are also key focus areas for this role.

In addition to the work aligned with the firms strategic initiatives, the Senior System Administrator shall plan for future growth, implement improvements as necessary and investigate new technologies.  The Senior Systems Administrator shall work for the Manager of Infrastructure and Network Systems. 

Responsibilities include: administration of Active Directory, Group Policy Objects, Windows Server Operating Systems, Exchange Server and Office 365 systems including SharePoint and One Drive; administration of and periodically update server configurations; test failover systems for proper operation at scheduled intervals; design, plan and implement all necessary upgrades and changes to network, storage and server systems; manage all projects assigned to them and meet all required deadlines; coordinate with the security information officer and IT audit officer to insure compliance with recommended security practices and department and organizational policies; educate department managers and general users in required and recommended Information Technology practices; keep the network physical plant, including server room, in good condition.

Additionally, the Senior Systems Administrator may provide 1st (phone) and 2nd level desktop support; may also provide 3rd level (escalated) support based on experience; maintains the Banks hardware and software inventories.

JOB FUNCTIONS (DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES)

  1. Configuration of existing and new appliances, storage and server equipment to established department standards.
  2. Administration and maintenance of appliances, storage and server equipment.
  3. Responds to appliances, storage and server alerts and resolves or escalates and tracks problems to resolution.
  4. Keeps appliances, storage systems and servers updated to the latest operating systems service pack and hot fix level.
  5. Maintains fault tolerant systems and tests on a regular basis. Updates and maintains the Banks disaster recovery site as needed. Coordinates with the Disaster Recovery coordinator for disaster testing.
  6. Responsibility for change management for systems they are responsible for.
  7. Responsibility for deployment management and lifecycle for systems they are responsible for.
  8. Plans and implements user profiles which provide drive and printer mappings and email.
  9. Provides support to resolve complex technical hardware and software problems.
  10. Maintains detailed inventory of purchased hardware and software.
  11. Performs installation, configuration and documentation of server applications as directed.
  12. Provides high quality work by ensuring accuracy and seeking to continuously improve our processes and platforms by embracing new and better ways of doing things.
  13. Enhances knowledge and understanding of job responsibilities through continuous communication and on the job training.  Training should focus on establishing high quality/accuracy of work.
  14. Provide hands-on technology support for all existing or new technologies assigned, utilizing vendors as needed, to ensure Bank's Limiteds needs are met in a highly responsive and effective manner.
  15. Provide high quality work by ensuring accuracy and seeking to continuously improve our processes and platforms by embracing new and better ways of doing things.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS

Required Skill Sets

  1. Very strong experience with Windows operating systems and Windows Networking for LAN/WAN connectivity and Active Directory including GPO administration.
  2. Very strong experience with modern Office 365 Microsoft ecosystem tools including Teams, SharePoint, One Drive and administration of each.
  3. 5-8 years experience installing, troubleshooting and maintaining Server and PC hardware and Operating Systems, software and printers.
  4. 5-8 years experience with previous and current Microsoft Exchange.
  5. Strong experience with VMWare and VCenter virtualization technologies.
  6. Experience with Remote desktop solutions, preferably Citrix.
  7. Experience with Cloud migrations or hosted solutions.
  8. Experience with Microsoft Cluster technologies (File Server, MSSQL, etc.).
  9. Excellent problem analysis and resolution skills.
  10. Excellent interpersonal skills.
  11. Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
  12. Good project management skills.
  13. Strong knowledge of incident, problem and change management and best practices.
  14. Strong knowledge of system deployment, lifecycle and best practices.
  15. Ability to work independently in a decentralized environment, without the reliance of direct authority;
  16. Proven maturity, reliability, composure, and stability under pressure;
  17. Strong organizational, analytical, and planning skills; Attention to detail and the ability to prioritize multiple, competing responsibilities;
  18. Bachelors degree in Management Information Science, Computer Science or equivalent work experience;

Preferred Optional Skill Sets (not required but very beneficial)

  1. HP Blade Servers and HP Nimble storage
  2. DoubleTake Replication
  3. Barracuda Proxy Servers
  4. ITIL certification preferred.
  5. Endpoint protection (experience with Symantec is a plus);
  6. Basic working knowledge of Red Hat Linux;

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
