Job Description

Our client is looking for a Systems Engineer that would be in charge with designing, building, and maintaining the IT infrastructure of the firm.  This includes the support of servers, storage, networking, applications, and security in an enterprise environment.  The ideal candidate would demonstrate a blend of technical skills, positive personality, leadership, dedication, and responsibility for the daily operations of the Firm.  The candidate must be able to troubleshoot and resolve issues under critical time constraints.  This position would report directly to the CIO. 


  • Design, install, and support IT equipment, systems, and applications
  • Work with other system engineer and CIO to architect and deploy new systems
  • Patching and updating of existing systems
  • Write custom scripts to improve efficiency
  • Routinely test systems for bug detections and other issues
  • Managing and testing of DR systems
  • Restoration of data from backups
  • Ensure best security practices are being implemented and followed to protect our network
  • Multitask and prioritize requests and projects in a complex, diverse environment
  • Serve as second and third tier escalation for user support issues
  • Create, approve, and manage change controls within the change management system
  • Create and maintain technical documentation
  • Maintain knowledge of the Firm's policies and procedures and firm support technologies, while being familiar with current industry trends and technologies
  • Respond to critical system alerts
  • Ensure continuous availability of systems through daily system monitoring, including verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, and key processes
  • Provide technical direction to less experienced IT support staff
  • Flexible and available to work after-hours as needed


Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Minimum 7 years of IT experience in a production environment, with at least 3 as a Systems Engineer
  • Law firm experience is preferred
  • Experience working in a multi-office environment (preferably across time zones)
  • Datacenter co-location experience
  • Associate/Bachelor's degree in a related technical field or equivalent work experience
  • Certifications with Microsoft (MTA, MCSA, MCSE) or VMware (VCA, VCP) are preferred
  • Hands-on experience with some or all of the following technologies:

o   VMware
o   Citrix
o   VDI environments
o   SD-WAN technologies – Velo Cloud
o   Cisco switches
o   Cisco VOIP phones systems
o   Cisco Jabber
o   Network load balancers – NetScaler
o   Multi factor authentication – Duo
o   Network monitoring tools
o   Office 365
o   Nimble SAN
o   Mimecast spam filtering and threat protection services
o   Web filtering programs – BlueCoat, Umbrella, Forcepoint, etc
o   DRAAS, IAAS, disaster recovery solutions
o   Systems management software – KACE or SCCM preferred
o   Microsoft Active Directory and Group Policy Management
o   Microsoft SQL
o   Microsoft Windows 10 operating system
o   Microsoft Office
o   Veeam backup
o   WSUS or equivalent patch management solution
o   SAML and SSO technology platforms
o    Vulnerability scanning and penetration testing
o   MDM – MobileIron preferred

Experience with the following legal specific applications is preferred:

o   iManage 9x or higher

o   Aderant

o   Legal Macro Systems – CCC Macro preferred

o   Print cost recovery systems – Billback, Equitrac

o   Docketing programs – eDockets, CompuLaw

o   eCopy
