This is the right job, if you are really good. An incredible opportunity to be at the heart of where technology happens.
As you're looking through so many listings, you will undoubtedly begin to find that the postings all begin to look alike. This one is different.
Cobaltix stands out. Not just because we hire really great people. Not just because we have great benefits and great pay. While all of those things are important, we stand out because of what our people are capable of--what they achieve. This environment fosters success. It presents people with challenges and opportunities, and provides a path to do incredible things--not just at the day-to-day work, but in the bigger picture--with projects, with career, and even (in the ways a great company can make a difference) with life.
Do you want to love coming to work again and be challenged technically?
We're a small, but consistently growing consulting company (about 50 people) based in San Francisco. We've been around since 2003, and our clients love us. They hire us because we're incredibly good at what we do and because we're genuinely nice. We work closely with clients both at a technical level and also at a business level--they trust us. We keep sane hours (and we work very hard to minimize emergencies). We also love doing what we do--it is the nature of being at a positive, growing company like ours, designing and implementing cool technology every day.
Our team is very tight--we have a great deal of respect for each other and we value the people we work with. All of our managers were once engineers--we promote from within. There are quite a few company events each year (ski trip, houseboat trip, Giant's games, go-cart racing, the mud run--to name just a few), and the benefits are a full step above what you get any place else (pay, too).
The company cares not just about our careers but us as people--this is demonstrated often and consistently. This is a fun place to work and grow. The frosting includes cold, local beer on tap, a $1600 tech stipend for all engineers, and bonuses that really reward great people.
At a technical level, we have engineers at a variety of levels, but three things tie everyone together--we are all great at troubleshooting, we are able to find creative solutions to problems for our clients, and we are really nice. Everyone has desktop and Mac troubleshooting skills as a base, and sys admin abilities on Windows and with VMWare are also a given. Our more senior engineers also have strong networking skills (especially around Cisco and Palo Alto), and some have skills with NetApp, Nimble, and other SANs. Our best guys do all this and more security, VoIP, databases, AWS and Azure, Citrix, and hard-core virtualization, as examples.
We aren't looking for people who think "it isn't my job", people who are content to stand still, or people who don't like people. Our people are our reputation. We want people who want to learn and grow, regardless of their level. Our people are always learning and mentoring.
We are looking for both a senior person and a person who is hoping to move into a senior role over time. These are both growth opportunities and for a great candidate, we will also cover moving expenses.
If you're interested, tell us what you bring to the table. We're looking forward to hearing from you--people who send a short cover letter with their resumes will get the most attention from us.
We'll try to be back to you within a couple of days. We take hiring seriously.
