A Day In The Life Of A Software Developer (DevOps/AWS) - req10165

Our Enterprise Technology Department is seeking an Experienced Software Developer to work on a team responsible for enabling and supporting a new enterprise/companywide used data lake solution in the cloud. A strategic mindset is required as this assignment will assist in developing solutions, from scratch, to further enable the data lake use to advance data analytics within the business. This role will have multiple opportunities in collaborating and driving development work activities with small groups of peers and business partners. The individual will also have responsibilities for day to day support for the data lake solution in maintenance, administration, consulting on development techniques/best practices and technical recovery as this will lead to new innovative ideas for companywide use.

Responsibilities are rotated within the team to allow all team members to grow technical knowledge, matures support structure within team, matures technical solution by understanding current challenges for end-users and ultimately avoids a single point of failure in support to our business partners. It also decreases wait-time to provide assistance to those seeking guidance/help. This is an awesome opportunity to work in an agile environment on a team with the following responsibilities:
  • Designs, develops, tests and supports software in support of big data and data lake objectives.
  • Applies DevOps mindset where team is accountable for product from inception to sunset
  • Setting up new roles, policies, building S3 buckets following internal standards and configuration requirements
  • Research of new technologies and/or newer versions of those in use with providing recommendations for next steps. Enables ability to consider applying emerging technology solutions to increase efficiency and effectiveness; expectation of continuous innovation.
  • Creating/updating/archiving technical support documentation published for technical support and end-users of the data lake solution
  • Knowledge sharing provided to immediate team members and to others who benefit; multiple formats being used such as presentations in person, online or via recording for on-demand training
  • Consulting on data lake best practices to help others be successful implementing a new business solution
  • Participating in implementing planned changes required for data lake in the scope of responsibilities of the team
  • Participating in technical incident recovery for solutions owned by the team for the data lake. Types of recovery can be performance of overall account, missing data, errors encountered, violations of protocols required, etc.
  • Providing costing reports to end-users to seek to understand expanse management.

Office Location (Dunwoody, GA) ...where we work hard AND play hard! Our campus is conveniently located adjacent to the Dunwoody Marta station.

We Are Looking for Candidates With
  • Very strong oral and written communication skills as the team interacts with all levels within the organization
  • Strong initiative (self-motivation) is needed for continuous innovation with minimal intervention
  • Strong ability to lead solution design, considering risks, mitigations, performance, user experience, and testability
  • Strong DevOps mindset related to accountability of a product from inception to sunset
  • Strong experience with Python and Terraform
  • Strong understanding with common AWS core cloud concepts and native services associated to compute, storage, databases, data movement, network, security, analytics, management, machine learning and cost
  • Strong ability in utilizing agile software development practices, data and testing standards, code reviews, source code management, continuous delivery, and software architecture
  • Past experience/knowledge associated to the use data, development of data models, data analytic concepts/design, supporting databases, or supporting computing resources related to each of these is a plus
  • Experience with JSON is a plus
  • Ability to travel via commercial transportation and/or driving motor vehicles as job requires
  • Ability to work irregular work hours and travel outside normal business hours as job requires
  • Ability to be included in on-call rotation for after business hour support responsibilities as job requires
