The Defense group supports the Department of Defense (DoD) mission to keep our homeland and its citizens safe. We provide solutions to improve the Nation's defense by providing software, systems engineering, IT, training and logistics and fleet management solutions.ResponsibilitiesThe selected individual will be responsible for developing algorithms, computer models, and scientific software programs for a variety of systems engineering, modeling and simulation, measurement, test and evaluation, and other tasks for current and anticipated customers. Initial project assignment is the planning, design, and development of the next generation underwater acoustic measurement facility for the U.S. Navy. The individual will work under the direction of project managers and senior scientists and engineers to solve customer problems through the application of science, engineering and mathematical principles and techniques. Some local and long distance travel to client sites may be required to perform tests and participate in progress and results briefings.QualificationsB.S. (M.S. or PhD desirable) in applied math, the physical sciences, or electrical or mechanical engineering. Course work and experience in physics, wave theory, signal processing, and acoustics is especially desirable. U.S. citizenship required to obtain security clearance. Minimum of 2 - 4 years of experience preferred. Must be able to demonstrate proficiency with computer programming language as applied to algorithms and graphics. Ability to express ideas clearly and succinctly both verbally and through the written word is essential. Knowledge of signal processing techniques and experience using MATLAB is desirable. Above all, candidate must demonstrate eagerness to learn new concepts, methodologies, and programming languages.About Perspecta
