Job Description

Exciting opportunity to join a prestigious investment firm in Boston in a newly created role within investment services / portfolio management division.

In this role you will assess the current testing process, determine where automation can be used, and build the roadmap for moving into automated testing. This role requires business and systems analysis, hands-on manual testing expertise, and strong, self-motivated interest and experience in building creative test automation solutions. The ideal candidate likely sees himself/herself as a developer of tools key to driving efficiency in custom platform testing.

Candidates should have solid development skills in either Python, C# or Java.

The business division is responsible for the custom trading and reporting platform and processes supporting Portfolio Management and Middle Office business teams. The Test Engineers are responsible for validating the business applications that drive daily trading activities including pre/post and trade processing, vendor data integration, load and validations, and finally reconciliation reporting.

Testing responsibilities begin with understanding the custom applications from the business perspective How is the application used? Who are the users? What are their roles? Where in the trade workflow does is the application employed? What are the key inputs/outputs of this application? What are the integration points with other systems?

Based on a comprehensive understanding and business requirements of the applications, Test Engineers develop and document test strategies and detailed test cases. They perform installation/rollback, systems testing and business testing.

The primary software technologies comprising the platform include the following: SQL Server/T-SQL, Markit EDM, C#, WPF, ASP.NET, MVC, WCF, REST Services, SSRS, Visual Studio/TFS 2017, UFT (formerly QTP), NServiceBus, Python, JavaScript, HTML.

Responsibilities

Participate in test automation roadmap definition, and planning/design/implementation phases

Design, Build and Execute manual functional, system, integration and regression tests

Identify automation opportunities during the testing process

Author code for testing tools and frameworks

Collaborate with developers, business and operations counterparts for timely, high-quality delivery

Review code for testability

Drive testability conversations and share tools/solutions across the testing teams

Own and facilitate project handoff to users for User Acceptance testing (UAT)

Configure test environments, including data population and scenario building
