AWS Cryptography's Payments team builds systems and capabilities that support customers who run payment workloads on AWS, and to help customers in the process of migrating to AWS accelerate their cloud journey. We are looking for a software development engineer with a propensity to take proactive action, a deep sense of ownership and the ambition to learn. Payments experience is not necessary. We will support your skill's development is payments and cryptography.
Key job responsibilities
As a software development engineer at Amazon, and in the payments space, you will design, development and operate systems which require very low latency and the highest of availability.
A day in the life
Our engineers tackle projects where they have a very high degree of freedom and where there is a substantial degree of ambiguity. Our engineers are continuously learning new things, from payments-specific algorithms to new technologies, and have numerous opportunities to innovate with unique solutions. As an example, our engineers have chosen to use the Rust programming language, and we are learning Rust lang as a group. You will be asked to design, plan and in some cases lead efforts with your fellow engineers.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 4+ years of professional software development experience
- 3+ years of programming experience with at least one software programming language
- 2+ years of experience contributing to the system design or architecture (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems
- Experience as a mentor, tech lead OR leading an engineering team
