Job Description

As a Software Engineer and Instructor at CH Robinson, you will use your passion for technology and teaching both to produce quality software and to lead the HatCHRy, our entry level onboarding program.

For roughly six months of the year, you will leverage our existing curriculum, your experience as a technical trainer, and industry best practices to maintain and execute strategies supporting the growth and development of our next generation of software engineers. Our HatCHRy program is designed to onboard and acclimate entry level engineers to CH Robinson by focusing on three pillars: quality technology, business acumen/organizational structure, and a growth mindset.

The other six-months of the year will be dedicated to analyzing, designing, developing, testing and delivering reliable, scalable, and maintainable software. CH Robinson is investing in transforming the logistics industry through our technology and you will be a critical component to ensuring we are building world class supply chain software.
Responsibilities:
  • Create and maintain training materials and facilitate training for multiple technologies
  • Provide coaching and guidance on the quality of technology and growth mindset pillars
  • Coordinate delivery of material related to the business acumen/organizational structure pillar
  • Work closely with stakeholders to define and prioritize project work in enterprise planning tool
  • Create profile material summarizing strengths and opportunities for HatCHRy participants
  • Work closely with leadership to evaluate and adjust curriculum based on technology department priorities
  • Create a fun, memorable, comprehensive learning environment for all trainees
  • Design, develop and deliver code that is necessary to support new features and enhancements in an agile environment
  • Work closely with business analysts and architects to define, estimate, and design software solutions for complex projects
  • Translate high-level requirements into detailed designs, and technical estimates
Required Qualifications:
  • 2+ years of experience designing, developing, and delivering technical training content
  • 2+ years of experience identifying and evaluating technical and soft skills
  • 3+ years of software engineering experience
  • 2+ experience building .NET RESTful APIs
  • 2+ years of experience building web applications, using modern JavaScript frameworks like React
  • 1+ year of experience writing automated unit tests
  • Experience using robust application state management frameworks like Redux
  • Experience with design patterns and SOLID principles
  • Proficient with GitHub, or comparable distributed version control system
  • High School Diploma or GED
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience implementing skill gap improvement plan
  • Experience with an enterprise-level authentication framework (e.g. Okta)
  • Experience with Kafka or Pub/Sub frameworks
  • Experience with .NET Core and containerization
  • Experience with continuous integration/deployment as a part of DevOps
  • Experience in system integration projects or global projects
  • Exceptional communication skills and a strong customer focus
  • Passion for learning new things, especially as it relates to solving complex problems
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or MIS
