Job Description

BlastWave is an inclusive, funded startup with a small team, looking for strong programmers and engineers: people who can write, code, architect, and work collaboratively with other great engineers. We are passionate about solving problems including data security and privacy.

Our next Software Engineer will develop our firmware/software security products, working collaboratively with the rest of our development team. She or he will be an expert in at least one programming language and IDE, with proficiency in C++14 or C++17, Rust and familiarity with Unix or Linux and TCP/IP networking.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's or Master s degree in computer science, software engineering, mathematics, or related field; or equivalent experience.
  • Three years of software engineering or software development experience, ideally in security, networking, or a related field.
  • Experience in system and software design, data structure and algorithm development and optimization.
  • Ability to apply object-oriented design principles and design patterns.
  • Excellent coding skills.
  • Hands-on C/C++ or Rust programming ability.
  • Experience with git and one of gitlab, github, or bitbucket.
  • Comfortable with Agile and Strong Testing methodology.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to prioritize activities to deliver projects on time and within budget.
  • A comprehensive understanding of computer science concepts.

Desired Skills and Knowledge

Successful candidates will also have strong abilities in several of the following:

  • Knowledge of security vulnerabilities, including leading attack vectors
  • Working knowledge of public-key and symmetric cryptography
  • Familiarity with secure boot and TPM
  • Python/Ruby or other scripting programming.
  • GUI, Gaming, or IDE Programming Experience
  • Consumer protocols including USB, WiFi, Bluetooth Smart/LE.
  • Mobile development experience
  • Functional programming
  • Bare metal microprocessor experience (e.g., ESP32, ARM, Atmel, RISC-V).
  • Analysis of data using statistics or machine learning to develop novel algorithms.
  • Static Analysis or Testing Frameworks

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop software for our innovative security systems.
  • Evaluate and integrate software from open source and 3rd party vendors.
  • Follow and improve coding guidelines, best practices and tools to enhance code quality and maintainability.
  • Prioritize and select appropriate tasks from the issue tracker and finish them in sync with the rest of the team.
