Develops, tests, implements, and maintains operating system and related software. Responsibilities differ from those of an Operating Systems Programmer in that the Systems Administrator is not responsible for altering operating system's software codes. Establishes and implements standards for computer operations for compatibility between hardware and software, according to specifications and parameters. Troubleshoots and resolves software, operating system, and networking problems. Schedules, performs, and monitors system backups and, when necessary, performs data recoveries.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Infrastructure Operations Solaris Administrator is an entry level role that will support and manage the various client systems and associated servers. The resource will work with the Infrastructure Operations team to setup and administer Solaris zones, support overall SAN operations, and manage the security of hosts.
- Bachelors Degree or equivalent work experience
- 1-2 years solid hands on experience and be Solaris or Linux+ certified
- 1-2 years working in UNIX, Linux, and Solaris environments
- 1+ years in Solaris System Admin
- TS/SCI or IT-1 Clearance
- Security+ or IAT Certification required
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Specific skill sets include Solaris 11, HP-UX 11.31, and Red Hat Linux 6.
