Job Description


Hewlett Packard Enterprise is seeking a Solution Managed Services Support Engineer

 

This position will serve in the USA Solution Managed Services (SMS) Support group as a Support Engineer supporting complex solutions deployed in the networks of several leading US telecommunications providers.   In this role you will be part of a dynamic team supporting, monitoring, troubleshooting, and reconfiguring the full application stack composed of:


  1. HPE proprietary application / Java JVM/SQL-based database backend (ORACLE Enterprise+TimesTen) / RedHat Linux / HPE Blade system+HPE low-end disk arrays

  2. HPE proprietary application / Java JVM/non-SQL-based database backend (Couchbase) / KVM-virtualized RedHat Linux guest / OpenStack-managed virtual datacenter

     

    This role requires taking periodic after hours on-call duty approximately 1 week out of every 2 months.   Additionally, this resource will specialize in data collection regarding break fix Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) related to trouble ticket resolution and key system performance and capacity measures. Candidate must be based in Houston or willing to relocate there and should have the following skills:  

     

    Required Skills

  3. Ability to analyze runtime behavior of JAVA JVM

  4. Basic understanding of SQL

  5. Good understanding of HTTP protocol and it’s REST API applications

  6. Good understanding of TLS/SSL protocol

  7. Good understanding of SSH2 protocol and it’s management

  8. Good understanding of ip4/ip6/udp/tcp networking:

  9. Administration of bare-metal RedHat 6.x/7.x Linux (RedHat certification not mandatory, but nice to have)


 

 Optional Skills (a plus)


  • Telecom network experience

  • Shell scripting / Python scripting

  • RedHat HA Cluster management and configuration

  • Administration of KVM-based guest RedHat 6.x/7.x Linux

  • Practical understanding of OpenStack architecture

  • Monitoring/reconfiguration of HPE BladeSystem components and HPE entry-level disk arrays


 

Education and Experience Required:


  • 1 - 4+ years of professional experience and a Bachelor of Arts/Science or equivalent degree in computer science or related area of study; without a degree, three additional years of relevant professional experience (6+ years in total).
