Job Description

SUMMARY

We are looking for a Solutions Architect to join the First United Bank IT Team in our McKinney office.  This position reports to the Director of Software Development and Integration.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)

  • Drives solution architecture to key problems and initiatives across all technologies and platforms.
  • Architecting SOA, cloud first, API centric and container-based services and events at scale.
  • Guides technical strategy to improve the organization’s ability to design, develop, test, operate, maintain, and control their services while identifying opportunities in the technical landscape.
  • Guides teams in the organization in anticipation of future use cases and helps them make design decisions that minimize the cost of future changes.
  • Coaches teams on making trade-offs, prioritization and managing technical debt. Identifies and manages technical and business risk.
  • Define, maintain, and manage architecture models, frameworks, and artifacts (e.g., current, and future state application architecture diagrams, data models, etc..).
  • Establishes engineering strategic objectives that drive architecture and technical approach.
  • Ensures expectations across the organization and external stakeholders are clarified between all parties involved. Identifies dependencies across the organization and works with individual teams to resolve them before they become an issue and establishes preventative measures to mitigate repeat occurrences.
  • Adept at Agile Methodology, Software Development Lifecycle, and Systems Architectures.
  • Drive conceptual and logical architecture design for new initiatives.
  • Develops standards, patterns, best practices for reuse, and acceleration.
  • Possesses knowledge in best practices around Continuous Integration/Deployment, automation, and containerization.
  • Evaluates vendors to maintain architectural compliance while keeping up with latest industry standards and best practices.
  • Establishes, reviews, documents, maintains, and publishes functional technology standards and architectural principles for enterprise consumption.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Completes all required compliance exams on a yearly basis.
  • Adheres to all First United Policies and Procedures.
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned.

EMPLOYEE SPECIFICATIONS

Education and Work Experience

  • Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related fields with equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years’ experience with developing and implementing applications in modern programming languages.  Prefer experience with C# / .NET Core, Java, JavaScript /TypeScript.
  • 10+ years’ experience with the concepts, philosophies, and tools behind the design of Enterprise applications, information and underlying information technologies (preferably in the Financial Services domain).
  • 7+ years of experience in supporting, developing, designing, and implementing technology solutions on large scale enterprise initiatives - preferably in Financial Services industry.
  • 5+ years’ experience with Digital Banking solutions, Workflow & RPA, and Data Analytics.
  • 3+ years of experience with the MuleSoft Anypoint platform or similar API Gateway & management technology.
  • 3+ years of experience producing deliverables such as technology designs, architectures, diagrams, data models, overviews, design patterns and technology blueprints within an architecture framework such as TOGAF.
  • Demonstrated application of skills and knowledge across digital technologies (Cloud, Data, Security, Application Architectures (APIs, Microservices, Event Streaming, Automation) and with Agile delivery methods (Scrum, Kanban).
  • Exceptional communication skills (verbal, writing, and presentation) with all levels of employees and management; capable of successful formal and informal communication.
