The Space Systems Architecture Engineer (Engineering Specialist) performs architecture-level assessment, modeling, analysis, and conceptual design activities as a member of the Space Architecture Department (SAD). The Space Architecture Department (SAD) provides unmatched experience in enterprise and system architecture to the U.S. government and numerous public and private agencies, universities, nonprofit organizations, consortia, and commercial companies involved in the advanced application of space technology. We approach our customer missions from a holistic perspective that encompasses program strategy, capability development, and transformation. Our designs and analyses promote the appropriate balance between budget, policy, and physical constraints with the complimentary system-of-systems solutions architecture. Our solutions meet user timeline demands, challenging budget constraints, and security challenges. We design evolvable capabilities, keeping an eye on the space technological, socio-political, and economic ecosystem. We ensure the solutions we co-create with our customers will stand the test of time and the challenges of both preferred and probable futures.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Apply disciplined system engineering and architecting methods, processes, and tools in a broad range of architecture-level assessment, modeling, analysis, and conceptualization activities
  • Architect, construct, and assess system and architecture models while pathfinding sustainable model-based systems engineering (MBSE) and digital engineering (DE) methods
  • Inform system architecting and acquisition decisions with expertise in relevant systems, technologies, threats, policy, cost, and the industrial base in the space or ground support domains
  • Collaborate with other Aerospace personnel to marshal technical expertise across multiple technical disciplines and domains to enable concurrent engineering approaches to address complex problems
  • Work with customers and other Aerospace personnel to elicit and identify needs, requirements, and constraints for a broad range of studies supporting the Civil, Defense, and Intelligence communities; build cross-disciplinary teams; scope, plan, and execute studies; and effectively communicate task status, methods, results, and recommendations in briefings and formal technical reports
  • Support Enterprise Architecting and transformation efforts through the development and mapping of strategy, doctrine, process, and technology, and infrastructure needs to enterprise goals and vision.

What You Need to be Successful

Minimum Requirements for Engineering Specialist:
  • Bachelor's degree in a supporting technical science or engineering discipline

  • Experience in space, intelligence, and/or defense domains
  • Ability to develop project plans, identify high-impact deliverables, manage schedule commitments, and participate in cross-functional, cross-organizational teams to execute studies and analyses
  • Excellent interpersonal and networking skills and ability to work effectively with a diverse set of collaborators
  • Possess excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to present methods and results effectively in briefings, formal reports, and informal communications

  • Applied understanding of modeling (physics-based, discrete event simulation, etc.) to support architecture-level analysis and trade studies
  • A current TS/SCI clearance
