The selected candidate will be responsible for systems and software engineering support to the Evolved Strategic SATCOM (ESS) ground acquisition and development. The ESS mission is to deliver secure, jam-resistant, and survivable communications to worldwide and polar users, meeting the FY30 strategic demand in all operational environments. Broad Agency Announcement (BAA) contracts were recently awarded to five contractors to assess the feasibility and provide innovative concepts in architecting ESS strategic communication mission planning (SCMP) software. The selected candidate will act as a technical advisor to the Government leads for the ground acquisition and associated systems engineering and integration efforts and will actively monitor the contractor's performance to ensure mission success. The selected candidate will be expected to provide proactive support to the customer and cultivate productive working relationships in a fast-paced multi-organizational environment. The position requires moderate travel, particularly in the Colorado Springs and Boston areas.

Key Functions
  • Directly supports the ESS Ground Lead and Integration functions
  • Participate in multi-disciplined and multi-organizational technical working group discussions, and provide technical status / progress / recommendations to Aerospace and Government leadership
  • Work closely with the Government management team to identify programmatic, technical and mission assurance challenges and develop timely, high quality solutions
  • Provide the customer with technical assessments of system / software design, metrics, process integrity, and schedule confidence
  • In collaboration with the Government and stakeholders, develop:
    • Execution plans in support of Ground acquisition
    • System integration strategies
    • Architecture development
    • Government Furnished Equipment/Software plans and contingencies
    • Program IMS development
  • Apply Lessons Learned from multiple Ground System Independent Reviews

Qualifications

Required
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or science from a recognized institution
  • 12 or more years of increasingly responsible experience in the acquisition of space/ground programs
  • Deep understanding of Ground systems
  • Experience with the command and control system requirements
  • Experience partnering with Government project or program managers
  • Experience working with/leading cross functional teams
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative and develop innovative solutions
  • History of establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with customers
  • Strong oral and written communications skills
  • Experience supporting acquisition planning for a wide range of SMC programs, e.g., support through the SMC Acquisition Center of Excellence
  • Active Secret clearance with ability to obtain Top Secret and SCI, which is issued by the US government. U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance

Preferred
  • Advanced technical degree in engineering, science or physics
  • Experience with military protected satellite communications
  • Experience with the ground integration
  • Experience with OMS/UCI
  • Experience with SOA and MOSA principals
  • Experience with agile development processes
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, team leadership abilities, and a demonstrated ability to effectively communicate technical ideas both verbally and in writing
  • Familiar with Aerospace culture and prior experience coordinating with Engineering & Technology Group (ETG)
  • Active Top Secret/SCI/SAP, which is issued by the US government. U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance
