Job Description

The Senior SQL Server DBA will provides leadership, guidance, and coordination for large DBA support teams, including coordination of complex database design, development, implementation, and support of databases for project and/or production efforts.

The Sr SQL DBA is responsible for database monitoring, troubleshooting, performance tuning, and high availability strategies for SQL Server 2012, SQL Server 2014, SQL Server 2016 and SQL Server in Azure IaaS/PaaS. Technical experience with high availability of SQL server databases and "Always ON" feature is required.

This role will provide Technical leadership for architecture, design and implementation of various system components as well as guidance on high level design for new initiatives and analyze their impact on overall enterprise architecture. The Sr. DBA will guide team members to influence overall software strategy and direction and participate in design and architecture review of the databases and applications. Lead efforts with database topology review and communicate with multiple teams to finalize optimal design for databases and applications.

 

Required:

Strong Technical skills in SQL Server 2012, SQL Server 2014, SQL Server 2016 and SQL Server in Azure IaaS/PaaS. Technical experience with high availability of SQL server databases and "Always ON" feature is required.

Production support experience should include support of SSIS, replication, database mirroring and SQL Reporting Services. In depth experience with DacPac and IsPac concept and deployment and automation of database objects is required.

Strong skills in performance monitoring and administering using System Center Operations Manager, and Idera Diagnostic Monitor.

Strong skills and working knowledge in database partitioning, security and encryption.

Experience in developing backup and recovery strategies.

Ability to anticipate hardware requirements and storage capacity planning for development, testing, QA and production for growth and performance.

Performance monitoring and tuning of assigned projects and communicate with other teams for identifying root cause of all database related issues.

A thorough understanding of database performance monitoring and analysis tools is required. Ability to work with database developers and engineers to analyze database performance and identify problems in areas such as: execution plans, index coverage, and SQL server statistics.

Ability to solve complex database administration problems and to write automated scripts and strong knowledge of system tables and DMVs is required.

Must be able to work in a team oriented environment and have the ability to communicate effectively within teams. Share new ideas with the team and be able to think on your feet and recommend solutions.

Must have strong work ethics and a professional demeanor.

Require project planning skills and good verbal and written communication skills.

Must be a good team player with a strong team concept and must be self-motivated.

24 X 7 on-call support is required.

Bachelors or in Computer science or related field is preferred.
