StateFarm is looking for a talented, self-directed, highly technical individual to join our ECRM Customer Service & Retention Team. The ECRM Customer Service & Retention team is dedicated to enabling our customer support associates with the capability of remarkable experience our customers deserve each and every time they contact State Farm. ECRM Customer Service & Retention is an enabler for every associate working with State Farm customers facilitating ease of use, reliability and data accessibility on variety of service related activities. The Salesforce Developer will be responsible for designing and implementing complex Salesforce solutions-- including functional requirements, coding, support and agile team principles and leadership. This opportunity requires deep application development skills, writing and collaboration, and strong communication skills. The focus will be on creating and improving Salesforce products that enable our customers and enterprise users be successful on the platform. This position will require working in a small team of individuals focused on core development tasks.

Required Technical Skills:

* B.S. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, MIS or equivalent work experience

* 2 years or more experience with Apex, Visualforce and salesforce.com APIs.

* Experience leading technical requirements gathering and building solutions from those requirements, Significant experience with web application development

* Demonstrated experience developing in the following languages: XML, HTML,SQL, Javascript, JSON, and CSS, JSF, JEE, (Sprint, etc.)

* Technical writing and documentation experience a plus

* Demonstrated experience developing RESTful Web Services

* Significant experience in practicing agile methodologies, including scrum and continuous integration environments


Desired Technical Skills:

* Experience with Lightning page and Lightning component development

* Experience leading technical requirements gathering and building solutions from those requirements, Significant experience with web application development

* Comfortability with a variety of development tooling, including Force.com IDE, Illuminated Cloud, Ant migration tool, and others

* Technical writing and documentation experience a plus

* Significant experience in practicing agile methodologies, including scrum and continuous integration environments


Scope of work:

* Taking impactful features from idea to implementation

* Building and improving Salesforce Lightning implementations and various other systems

* Possesses an understanding of how technology solutions meet the business outcomes and offers a range of solutions for business partners; understand business current and aspirational needs

* Provides system software support for SalesForce APEX and Java applications

* Implement software solutions that enable the use of SalesForce that assist agents in servicing customers and potential customers

* Participates in the full software development cycle including coding, testing, implementation, support and sunset

* Participates in sprint planning; provides work estimates to deliver product stories; owns development stories.

* Adopts Service Design, where appropriate, through utilization of modularity within architecture to enable continuous delivery

* Possesses an understanding of User Experience (UX) best practices to improve the usability and interaction between the customer and the product.

*Applies innovation, passion and flexibility in daily activities

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Possesses an understanding of how technology solutions meet the business outcomes and offers a range of solutions for business partners; understand business current and aspirational needs
  • Participates in sprint planning; provides work estimates to deliver product stories; owns development stories
  • Develops solutions on variety of platforms according to business requirements
  • Completes required coding to satisfy the defined acceptance criteria and deliver desired outcome
  • Leads solution design, considering risks, mitigations, performance, user experience, and testability
  • Assists in development of automated testing and supporting code as necessary
  • Completes required documentation to communicate information to deployment, maintenance, and business teams
  • Utilizes agile software development practices, data and testing standards, code reviews, source code management, continuous delivery, and software architecture
  • Participates in the full software development cycle including coding, testing, implementation, support and sunset
  • Designs, develops, tests and supports software in support of big data objectives
  • Possesses an understanding of User Experience practices to improve usability and interaction between the customer and product
  • Adopts Service Design, where appropriate, through architecture modularity to enable continuous delivery
  • Considers applying emerging technology solutions to increase efficiency and effectiveness; expectation of continuous innovation
  • Resolves problems that result in a decreased time to market; improves quality, enhances flexibility, and embraces the solution provider mindset
  • Provides input into overall testing plan; contributes to test approach and scenarios for requirements
  • Provides product and/or process expertise necessary to support design, development, testing and execution of solutions
  • Exhibits DevOps mindset where team is accountable for product from inception to sunset




This position will have an 18-month incumbency period, beginning on the effective date of the position, which must be met before the employee can post for any other lateral State Farm position. Employees may be considered for a promotional opportunity into leadership at any time, and into a promotional PRTC position after 6 months from the effective date of the position. In these cases, the remaining incumbency would be waived. The incumbency period does not affect the at-will relationship between State Farm and the employee and does not create an employment contract, nor contractual rights.
