Our Opportunity:
The Technology Infrastructure Services (TIS) Business Management team is responsible for developing internal strategic initiatives to support the broader infrastructure platform in the areas of Financial Management, Audit and Compliance, Operational Excellence, Strategic Transformation and Asset Management. The TIS Business Management team is seeking an inquisitive, passionate Sr Staff Software Asset Management Specialist focused on Software Asset Management and will be responsible software compliance within the IT Asset management process.  Additionally you will provide in depth subject matter expertise for the continuous improvement of the IT Asset process to maximize IT Assets value and minimize risk. The position requires a range of experience within IT, including general understanding of best practices in IT Asset Management, IT Service Management, Infrastructure, Networking, Operations, Information Security, Application and Lifecycle Management, Project Management, and Change Management is required.
 
This role provides in depth product and licensing expertise for specific software products and licenses. They will work closely with product owners and provide an additional level of oversight, activities and expertise to ensure potential issues with software products are mitigated. They are responsible for maintaining deep understanding of software contracts, entitlements and license types, as well as interpreting licensing terms and conditions. They will configure automated discovery to ensure consistent identification of applications within the computing environment. This role is also responsible for measuring the outcome of the entitlement asset management processes through monitoring and validation of our Key Performance Indicators.
 
What you’ll do:
  • Ensure software license compliance is met by following internal control process and procedures
  • Ensuring data quality and consistency
  • Ensuring efforts are put forward to remediate any license operating outside its license entitlements
  • Ensuring Software Product compliance with Schwab controls and standards including legal and regulatory compliance, security policies and standards compliance, as well as technology policies and compliance
  • Managing software license entitlements for reconciliation against purchase records to provide an effective license position
  • Ongoing improvements in the software asset management processes, procedures and reporting functionality
  • Overseeing product owner attestation process
  • Providing overarching asset management accountability for all assigned software products
  • Providing software status accounting - ensuring software product production data currency in authority systems (including Ariba, Request Center, STech, Application Directory and IT Asset Management database)
  • Providing subject matter expert for product licensing
  • Software data analysis and gap reporting
  • Software verification and audit - ensuring all software product production data is accurately documented in authoritative systems (includes software product compliance reporting, escalation and remediation in line with pre-determined targets)
  • Understanding and communicating how product installation impacts licensing position
  • Actively participate in software compliance audits
  • Capable of building strong customer relationships and delivering customer-centric solutions
  • Collaborate with and support the contract management team with vendor negotiations on software licensing, maintenance, and other services
  • Tracking and maintaining an accurate inventory of assets throughout their life cycle
  • Auditing, validating, and reconciling software licenses against the installed asset base
  • Researching licensing models, product use rights, as well as licensing metrics and entitlements for vendor-published desktop software assets

 
What you have:
  • 7-12 years’ Experience with Software Asset Management.
  • Experience with Large Scale vendors such as IBM, Microsoft, Oracle
  • Experience with vendor audits
  • Experience with IT Asset monitoring tools such and dashboards (Flexera a plus)
  • Understanding of ITIL/ITSM processes.
  • Strong documentation and organization skills.
  • Service experience from service inception to transition, operations, metrics and reporting.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently or participating in virtual teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to effectively communicate with both technical and business leaders.
  • Able to influence, negotiate with and nurture relationships with product owners.
  • Able to work in a fast paced environment, meet challenging deadlines and maintain high quality standards.
  • Demonstrated success managing many competing requests, projects and priorities.
  • Process and tool integration awareness.
  • Subject expertise with software contracts, license types and complex software entitlements
