Valiant Solutions is seeking a Senior CI/CD Engineer / Architect to join our growing, innovative team! This position can be 100% remote.


This is your opportunity to become a technical lead in a new team to establish CI/CD pipelines to continuously integrate system components and security mechanisms.  You’ll get to architect, build, and integrate solutions for our innovative Government client. This position forges solution development with security to ensure real security is in place within Government systems.  The successful candidate will integrate with DevOps teams to help them transform into DevSecOps teams, helping them establish CI/CD pipelines and mature their processes. You will be required to architect solutions, carry out development tasks, and provide consulting guidance for the secure development of cloud systems.  This will involve playing an active role in sprint planning meetings and various decision-making sessions to ensure that security requirements and considerations are woven into the development of each system.


The successful candidate will have designed CI/CD pipelines for continuous integration within cloud environments.  This will have included hands on design work and the use of tools such as Jenkins or Gitlab, automation tools such as Ansible, and writing code in Python or other languages.

The successful candidate will have a strong background of engineering experience, preferably with most of that experience being in the security space.  An understanding of all of the many layers of defense-in-depth security, including specific technologies that can be applied at each layer is essential.  You will conduct security engineering reviews of systems that are preparing for ATO assessment, guiding project teams to implement technical NIST controls to create securely architected solutions.  You will also support security assessors and conduct some assessments on your own.


Specific duties include:


  • Cloud system architecture (AWS, Google, Azure)

  • CI/CD pipeline development

  • System automation with automation tools such as Ansible

  • DevSecOps process creation and implementation to weave security requirements into development

This position requires strong communication and organization skills.  You will interface directly with the customer and must be able to work autonomously and produce high-quality work product.

Must have experience:

  • 8+ years of Information Technology engineering experience:  This experience must include a mix of engineering and operations experience.  Experience may include systems administration, network engineering, or application development.  The successful candidate will have experience with a broad range of technologies deployed in on-premise data centers or in the cloud.  Experience with engineering design and innovation is required.

  • 4+ years of Security experience:  The successful candidate will have at least three years of experience implementing security mechanisms within systems in order to meet compliance requirements


  • 3+ years of cloud experience: The successful candidate will have at least two years experience working with Cloud Service Providers such as AWS or Azure, and will have experience working with services available within those cloud platforms


  • 2+ Experience and understanding of CI/CD tools and DevOps orchestration tools such as: Ansible, Chef, Puppet, and Jenkins

Desirable experience:

  • Command line experience with Linux or UNIX including OS installation and configuration, security hardening, patching and package upgrades

  • Experience designing and automating security mechanisms for systems to ensure confidentiality, integrity, and availability

  • Experience with AWS (Amazon Web Services), Microsoft Azure, or Google cloud

  • Experience with Chef, Ansible, or Puppet

  • Scripting experience with PowerShell, bash, Perl, Python, or Ruby

  • Experience deploying cloud-based firewalls and developing, integrating with, and managing AWS cloud environments

  • Understanding of NIST 800-53 control requirements

  • Network and network security design experience

Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time and also be able to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.

Must be able to communicate, detect, converse with, discern, convey, express one self, and exchange information visually and verbally.

Must be able to occasionally bend and lift files and papers up to 10 pounds throughout the office space for events and meetings.
