We are seeking a Sr. Microsoft SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA) who is largely responsible for providing operational and development support services. Primary responsibilities of this role include owning, tracking, and resolving database related incidents and requests, performance tuning, backups, patching, remediation of security vulnerabilities. This role also requires a service oriented mentality, a high sense of ownership of the problems and requests assigned, a focus on managing and resolving issues, as well as initiating and performing changes on production systems. This position requires a minimum of five years’ experience.

 

Primary Duties:

  • Manages and maintains the databases, performs troubleshooting and tuning when necessary.
  • Manages backup and recovery processes, as well as disaster planning to ensure recovery timelines can be met.
  • Manages and maintains SQL Server Replication and Windows Failover Cluster.
  • Refresh databases and replications of Development, QA, UAT and Staging environments from Production.
  • Monitors database performance and implements appropriate solutions to ensure the scalability and productivity of the databases.
  • Participates in the design/planning of new databases and related technology.
  • Implements SSIS/SSRS/jobs/scripts to support the applications and interfaces between them.
  • Performs security management, schema changes, and applies encryption within established guidelines to support audit related tasks.

                                                                                             

Qualifications:

  • DBA with 5+ years of experience as SQL 2008, 2012, 2014, production DBA on Windows and Linux in a 24*7 environment.
  • BS Computer Science or equivalent experience.
  • In depth knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server databases, including experience working with Transactional Replication.
  • Experience with database backup and restore.
  • 3+ years in SQL scripting and tuning.
  • 2+ years in PowerShell scripting and SSIS packages.
  • Experience monitoring databases with SQL Server related monitoring tools.
  • Ability to install and configure new server instances and upgrade existing ones.
  • Knowledge of MYSQL and LINUX is a plus.
