Medical Science & Computing is searching for a Senior Linux Administrator to support the National Library of Medicine, National Institutes of Health. This opportunity is full-time, and it is on-site in Bethesda, MD.
Duties & Responsibilities
Duties: Utilize experience with Unix/Linux, Amazon Web services or Google Cloud for Cloud Management/Virtualization, SAN/NAS/Storage solutions with NetApp and NFS, scripting language such as shell/bash, perl, python, and ruby, developing automated scripts for monitoring or analyzing the operation of infrastructure, including Nagios scripts, log file reporting, Spacewalk/RedHat Satellite and Puppet scripts, and VMware ESX environment to design, implement, and evaluate current and future infrastructure initiatives for the highest level of efficiency and performance. Participate in data center consolidation, and migration to the cloud. Responsible for general administration of Unix/Linux - installation, users creation, group creation, permissions, creations of folders, mail/SMTP, Web (Apache, Tomcat), FTP, DNS, Proxy, Samba, Firewall (NAT, IT Tables, Packet Filter, IP Filter), LDAP, NFS, NIS, and NFS/CIFS/FCP. Perform problem diagnosis, troubleshooting and resolution. Perform new hardware and Linux OS installations, patching and upgrades. Maintain operating systems and associated infrastructure software. Design and document SOPs for system administration activities. Install Server OS using automated installation such as kickstart and maintain Server OS configuration using Puppet Configuration management tool. Develop procedures for Linux/Unix security and management. Use various automation and use other tools to support and manage daily task. Make sure all servers are compliance to security, bug free and shold be patched timely using satellite server management and spacewalk to push security bugs OR OS patching.
Requirements: Bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science and Engineering or a related field plus 7 years of post-baccalaureate experience reflecting demonstrable ability in the skill set described above.
