Sr. Network Engineer


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • B.A. or B.S. in a engineering, design, and/or a relevant combination of education and experience. 
  • 10+ years of expertise in a technical role within an enterprise organization.
  • Understanding and implementation of application layer security to insure security of public facing applications.
  • Knowledge of data center topology and High Availability designs.
  • Strong knowledge in understanding routing protocols and ability to continuously adapt.
  • Strong experience with security technologies and bandwidth management.
  • Strong experience with understanding application delivery.
  • Strong documentation leveraging different Microsoft suite applications.
  • Strong experience with understanding remote access technologies and methodologies.
  • General understanding of VoIP, voice and data networks. Able to work with a VoIP provider to deploy and support
  • Development and subsequent custodianship of a suite of network engineering POSTPROGs (Policies, Standards, Procedures, Guidelines) covering a variety of network technologies, by working closely with other members of the team
  • Standards are to be defined, and may include, for example:
    • Firewall Standard
    • Switch Standard
    • Router Standard
    • IDS Standard
    • Proxy Standard
    • Load Balancer Standard
  • Additionally, analyze, define, and develop a Release Cycle process to control the release of the new standards listed above for communication purposes, as well as establish repository (for example, SharePoint)
  • Championing values such as accuracy, consistency, and completeness by creating a Naming Convention Standard and a Network Diagram Standard
  • Working with other team members on network designs, leveraging prior experience to document network designs, using Microsoft Visio to create diagrams and illustrations
  • Work with other team members on establishing Build Documents and then establish a process that will enforce accuracy, consistency, and completeness in all network builds. Ultimately, to establish a process that enforces accountability as well.
  • Leveraging past experience and skills to:
  • Follow a methodical and analytical approach in order to identify problem areas in the business and identify technical solutions (analytical, problem solver)
  • Use management skills to manage multiple projects and initiatives as assigned; use skills to influence others and achieve the desired results
  • Work closely with other teams and organizations within TRU, such as other engineers, programmers, server team, storage, information security, IT managers, etc. as needed
  • Maintain an extensive and current knowledge of network technologies, including hardware, software; keeping educated on current network trends and topics, and maintaining and acquiring relevant certifications
  • Creating PowerPoint presentations as needed
  • Help develop a methodology to measure KPIs and leverage auditing skills as needed to help support refresh initiatives
  • Facilitate enhancements to existing processes, for example incident management processes (Gatekeeper methodology) Change Management process etc
  • Understanding of network traffic analysis, remote access methods and systems, stateful inspection firewalls, encryption, authentication and authorization technology. 
  • Knowledgeable in application delivery using F5 LTM, GTM, ASM.
  • Comfortable documenting and explaining network topologies, understand and diagram existing network diagram, explain and plan for future growth.
  • Expert with layer 2 technologies and working within industry best practices
  • General understanding of patch cable termination capabilities (Cat5e / Cat6) 
  • Experience and understanding of fiber optic networks 
  • Experience in understanding the methodology of an enterprise-level infrastructure, including fiber optic and wireless using Cisco technologies.
  • Ability to develop engineering specification, build docs, and network test plans to insure optimum throughput and reliability 
  • Understanding of FCOE and data center technologies

We have an amazing opportunity within a fun organization for a Senior Network Engineer within our Infrastructure team, available within our Global Shared Services Center! The senior network Engineer will interact with the different technical teams to deliver business requirement, develop design standards, and insure stability of the network.
The organization is primarily a Cisco based infrastructure. The Senior Network Engineers will support multiple platforms and services to include operations, implementation, and engineering. The Successful candidate will be part of a team of 7 individuals responsible for supporting 1000 US based branch locations and more than 30,000 internal users.
