Job Summary

The National Systems Group serves as the technical advisor to the Intelligence Community and its mission partners involved in the collection and distribution of national and tactical intelligence, including electronics programs, advanced technologies, ground and communications, imagery programs, and systems engineering and launch.

The Aerospace Corporation is looking for a Command and Control (C2) Systems Engineer to support Directorate H in the Electronic Programs Division. This Senior Project Engineer will serve as the primary Aerospace point of contact assigned to support operations and maintenance (O&M) or Echelon 2 (E2) level maintenance for operational systems, special payload C2 development, system test, and installation. A key focus requires interfacing with critical stakeholder organizations including mission operations and the ground enterprise.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Monitor the E2 contract status and advise the government on technical solutions related to system upgrades, obsolescence mitigation, IT solutions, requirements, testing, integration, verification & validation (IV&V), and deployments
  • Advise the government on technical and performance aspects related to C2 system development for adjunct and special payloads
  • Assist in formulation of acquisition strategies and evaluation of contractor proposals for development and E2 contracts
  • Coordinate with program office security to evaluate contractor cyber security approaches, review vulnerability mitigations, and monitor impacts to external interfaces
  • Initiate and lead efforts (i.e. technology trades) with the Aerospace Engineering Matrix to address technical or IT-related issues related to system development and sustainment
  • Interface with program office systems engineering and integration (SE&I) team to monitor risks, baseline configuration changes, and advice leadership on trades
  • Participate in routine program office functions to include program management reviews and design reviews at the unit, element, and system level

What You Need to be Successful

Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in an appropriate technical discipline from a recognized institution
  • 12 or more years of increasingly responsible professional engineering experience
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment
  • Knowledge of Command & Control (C2) system development
  • Familiarity with government acquisition policies and procedures
  • This position requires a A current TS/SCI security clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.

  • Advanced degree in a STEM discipline
  • Experience with advanced IT systems and capabilities
  • Prior program office experience
  • Experience developing satellite and ground capabilities
  • Demonstrated ability to work asynchronously with team members located worldwide
  • Familiarity working with Aerospace Engineering Matrix
  • Willing to travel domestically and internationally approximately 10%-25%
