The National Systems Group serves as the technical advisor to the Intelligence Community and its mission partners involved in the collection and distribution of national and tactical intelligence, including electronics programs, ground and communications, imagery programs, and systems engineering and launch.

In this opportunity, we are seeking a Senior Project Engineer to be part of the GEOINT Ground team helping build the US Government's next-generation GEOINT Ground architecture. The GEOINT Ground team assists the customer in fielding ground mission management, command and control, and mission data processing systems.

This position requires 100% on site work in Chantilly, VA.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Serves as a senior technical advisor to the US Government in acquiring state-of-the-art software applications for GEOINT radar and electro optical mission command and control and mission data processing software applications and services for deployment into a commercial cloud environment
  • Lead initiatives focused on identification and exploitation of emerging technologies, nontraditional partners and novel approaches to enable fundamentally new or advanced capabilities within the GEOINT ground enterprise
  • Leads small teams of Aerospace subject matter experts in assessing and maturing new technologies, integrating new systems and sensors, and delivering a resilient, responsive ground architecture
  • Collaborates with an agile team of acquisition professionals and industry software developers to rapidly field new software capabilities in a dynamic mission environment
  • Coordinates with enterprise stakeholders to ensure that user needs are properly understood and satisfied
  • Assists the US Government in formulating acquisition strategies for achieving its architectural vision and in pre-solicitation efforts and source selections to help the government achieve best-value solutions from industry


What You Need to be Successful

Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering, scientific, or related field or equivalent relevant experience
  • 12 or more years of increasingly responsible experience
  • Experience in one of more of the following domains: mission control or mission processing systems for space systems, geospatial intelligence (GEOINT), US Government acquisitions and/or systems engineering, or software development
  • Ability to lead high-performing teams of engineering professionals
  • Ability to travel as necessary and flex work schedule to accommodate deadlines to support job requirements
  • This position requires a current and active TS/SSBI/SCI security clearance and polygraph, which is issued by the US Government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.

It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:
  • Advanced degree in imaging science, computer science/engineering, systems engineering, electrical engineering, or a related engineering or scientific field
  • Experience with agile-based software development, commercial cloud environment, and DevOps pipeline implementation
  • Expertise in radar and/or electro optical remote sensing payloads and systems
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
